Facebook Offers Better Jobs than Google

Glassdoor, company which collects information about employees in different companies anonymously and voluntarily, presented a report saying that people working in Facebook are not only paid more but also the social network offers a better work environment.

Here’s the rating for most important companies salaries in the software engineer category:

Google offers an average annual salary of $98K and Facebook for the same jobs is giving $110K, making this the most important salary around all companies; Cisco, Yahoo and Apple appears right after Facebook.

But that’s not all, work climate is an important factor in every job; and Facebook makes a difference in this area as well.

Based upon a 5-point scale, Facebook scores 4.6 as the top company in work environment; Google appears third with 3.9 (AOL and Apple appear fourth and fifth). And, surprisingly or not, HP offers the “worst” work climate raked with 2.7.

Make This World a Better Place: Electric Car Manufacturer Is On The Rise

better place We all want to make the world a better place. And one of this generations most controversial topics is of course, global warming. A start-up Better Place aims to raise enough money to reduce our dependency on fossil fuels (namely petroleum) for things like transport, energy generation and manufacturing. They have started with the biggest offender – cars.

This year, they’re going to start developing an infrastructure in Israel which will support the growth of electric cars. Commercial models will be going onto the market in 2012.

So far, the company which is funded by big investors (largely by HSBC) have generated $350 million since 2007.

Recently, they have been launching apps and products which aim to make electric vehicles more appealing and socially ‘cool’, such as their iPhone app named ‘A Day in the life of an EV driver’. This outline how EVs work and what’s involved in owning and running one.

Further countries on the list after Israel include Denmark, Japan and the US. It is in these countries that the company will be developing charging technologies and will be aiming to make running an EV much easier than it currently is by creating new technology. Hopefully, one day soon, they’ll be better than owning a normal petrol powered car so we’ll all make the switch.

FreeLoader Solar Charger Rocks

freeloader_610x366

FreeLoader is a great company for cool gizmos and gadgets that come in handy and save you some money. Their new solar charger which they have just unveiled is the latest in a long line of such products. It’s small, slim and handheld, as you can see in the picture above.

It consists of two solar panels and a lithium battery. It can charge the average iPod in just eight hours which isn’t too bad considering you could just leave it on your window sill. This will give you 28 hours of power for an iPod or 70 for the average mobile phone. It flips around to open like a switch blade and then folds right back up, just like that. You wouldn’t notice it in your back pocket.

This would definitely suit campers and explorers who need to charge cameras, phone and iPods while away instead of carrying three or four cumbersome battery packs. Freeloader don’t concentrate on the green aspect, only the practical side.

“We don’t want people to buy it because it’s green. We want them to buy because it’s useful. The green part is an added benefit,” said CEO,  Andrew Williams

Worst iPhone Charger Ever

reverb_thumb One of the main reasons Apple’s products have become so popular is because they’re sleek, slim and small. The iPhone, iPods and Mac Books should, in their own right, be twice their sizes considering what they can do. It seems Apple is always ahead of the competition when it comes to the size of things. So it goes without saying that Apple customers like their gadgets small. So how about a three-foot tall iPhone charger?

Then Reverb iPhone solar charger stands at a whopping 3 feet and is over a foot wide as well. Your iPhone/iPod is perched in the upper right-hand corner of the monster where it can take 40 hours to charge indoors, and twenty hours outdoors. Seriously? So it’s three-feet tall and take almost two days to charge your device and it’s never going to look good perched on your windowsill. But do you want to know the main reason they’re not going to sell? Here’s why: $2,229 !!!

They’re due to launch in April next year.
