ZoopGames.com and How It Can Be Improved

I was recently over at the DigitalPoint Forums and browsing through numerous discussions, when I was asked to review ZoopGames.com. After taking a quick look at the site it seems to be your typical flash arcade site. All the key elements are there with links to the games in a nice navigational panel, but at the same time it is heavily loaded with ads and the wrong kinds of ads in the wrong places.

Advertising

Left Column

Why are you using cheaps ads in the right hand column. They have nothing to do with Games or Arcades or even gambling, so why have them there. Especially when i know you must be getting a very poor click thru or CPM rate. They should be 125 x 125 banners that promotes other services and even affiliate advertising, or have more of a control panel that helps visitors navigate through your site.

Middle Column

The widget bucks ads seems to fit in well with the site but the sheer size of the ads is just over the top. Is there a smaller size that you can replace it with. I think on a site like this there still needs to be some links and information above the fold and on ZoopGames there are no games at all.
Right Column

The top of the right hand column is just a mess. Im not sure if they have worked out if it is going to be a text link section or a banner section and they seem to have chosen the worst of both worlds.

The key elements of the site as a whole is there and they have a product to offer people, but if it was designed a lot better traffic would increase and more the point profitability would also increase. At present im sure ZoopGames are getting a poor click thru rate and this could be improved with choosing the right affiliates and ad channels.
