Yahoo Meme: Twitter Meets Viral
I was lucky enough to receive an invite to Yahoo’s new product Meme. Meme is a micro-blogging service from Yahoo that works in a very similar way to Twitter. You may now ask, whats the difference?
- Yahoo Meme is very fast and stable
- Yahoo Meme makes it very easy to post Video, Music and Photos straight into your stream
- Yahoo Meme has really focused on making it easy to re-post items you like, with just 1 click (Viral focused)
We have joined just to test out the service and even after testing im pretty sure im going to keep using the account, because it is just so simple and easy to use. If you want to follow Crenk on Yahoo Meme our url is: http://meme.yahoo.com/crenk/
So you may be wondering why doesnt everyone just move over to this service from Twitter, well basically its because of the amount of users using Twitter. Additionally its the community of developers who have helped Twitter grow at the rate they have.
What Yahoo Meme really needs to develop:
- Yahoo Meme needs its own URL and identity away from the Yahoo.com domain. It would be good to see this as a standalone service
- Ability to resize pictures and videos down so that a lot more streams can be seen in the same window (problem with media in the stream)
Yahoo Meme is currently in private beta, so to mark its launch we can offer a lucky 5 people into the system. All you have to do is comment on this post and let us know why you want to use the service so badly!

It’s a clean interface. You never can tell if what Yahoo does is going to be Fab or Fail. Time and money might be on their side. This looks a bit like Tumblr and Posterous. Please send me an invite.
I am doing a project for school (and because I want to) on web 2.0
It is a study of all the new stuff the internet has to offer to the world not only as consumers but as producers. I have just started the project and i plan on doing a vlog (and maybe a blog) on what i have learned not only about the web itself, but also over its growing power, and its effects on the world. I think It would be helpful to my research if i could study this service early on.
Hi! Hope I’m luckier than usual. I would definitely love an opportunity to get in on this service for a couple of reasons. First and foremost Twitter has been a big let down for me. It’s reminds me of trying to shout across a stadium to your friend you haven’t seen since college.
Initially it was a pretty cool way to meet people who shared the same interest as you. Now everyone wants to sell you something or send you some crazy hug, back rub, foot massage or whatever the hell they decided to tweet over to ya.
Just curious that’s all.
Thanks
Its all about bragging rights…
I am a huge Yahoo fan, IM and mail have always outdone the competition. So I have no doubt that Yahoo will rock! If not me then I nominate Roschelle –
I’m always looking for the next Twitter alternative. So if you still have an invite available, I’d love to test it out.
Plus, from what I’ve seen so far, Meme looks like the best Twitter alternative yet, better than FriendFeed by a longshot, and exactly what I’m looking for. I just checked out the way it embeds video and images and am thoroughly impressed.
I’m curious to see what features allow it to stand apart from the rest: character limit, mobile use, built-in connections to other services, location-awaredness. Getting in on the ground floor of something like that would be epic.
Thanks Steve F. You rock dude!!!
Wow.. I love it! I think Yahoo Meme is a lot more interactive than Twitter. So coool, you can almost share anything!! Videos, pictures and even Music!! Wow.. I totally love Meme!! It will be my pleasure if i have given a chance to use Meme.. But if i am not i’ll just wait for the time that yahoo meme will be out soon.. AND I JUST CAN’T WAIT TO REGISTER!!!
