Wordpress 2.8 Released

Few days back, Wordpress.org announced the released of Wordpress 2.8 – Baker. This version uses the name of trumpeter and vocalist Chet Baker (1929 – 1988). And so far, seems that has a good response among users and webmasters.

What’s new and what are the improvements:

• New drag-n-drop widgets admin interface
• Enhance theme management
• CodePress editor that highlights the code syntax.
• Support timezones and automatic daylight saving time adjustement
• Interoperability improvements with support for IIS 7 URL Rewrite module.
• Script compression and concatenation for faster loading on admin pages.
• Improved database performance

Here’s a quick note: One feature that was not included in this version (maybe for the next one?) GeoData for posts, comments and attachments. Looking forward to that one.
