@Trou I have been running my site for many years and the advertising industry has always been one that has interested me. As you mention, Adify at the moment is a great player in the market, however they have recently removed the fact that publishers can use multiple niche networks at once. I see Adify moving backwards now quite fast. Buzzlogic provides some good campaigns but they are few and far between, plus TF and Casale are hard to get into but their fill rates are getting worse and worse on a daily basis.

I also started a company called Adphilia.com which is in the same network of companies as Crenk. Adphilia is a site representation firm in which we are really hoping to turn a new corner with advertising very soon. Our new platform is scheduled to launch in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out for that.

Insightful post.

I am a member of Adify, Burst, Buzz, AOL (Ad), AdsDaq etc…and Adify is the best without any doubt. Buzzlogic is good when it fills up, they pay $2 eCPM which is quite competitive in its niche. Others networks are no better than resellers.

Have been trying mighty hard to get into TF and Casale but without any luck so far.

@AJBlade TribalFusion is a top teir network so it would be great if you can get in there, but I dont think 30k pageviews per month is enough, kinda need at least 100k. Plus I know TF arent taking on any more sites in specific channels at the moment. You should also look at various vertical ad networks depending what Niche or Channel your sites are in.

i too am running blog and having quality traffic

around 30000 page views and 17000 unique visitors per month …
i signd up for tribal fusion and other networks described above but most of them rejected my application without any reason

yet i am running ADBRITE,CLICKSOR and generating good revenue but i think i can still generate more revenue

any suggestion do reply

@Prasad I think you should really try to get into Casale and TribalFusion. They are quite hard to get into, but if you do get in they pay some great rates.

Try to sign up to as many of these networks as possible and test which ones are actually good for your site. However, dont run poor quality ads cause they could really hurt your brand and turn off readers.

@vurdlak Im not too sure you really have any idea. Federated Media has some good CPM rates, but the rates you see on the website are no where near what the publisher earns. Sixapart are currently working on the Adify system and only have CPM rates of around $1.00. Technorati have a decent CPM rates, but only UK ads and very very limited on fill rates. So please make sure you check your facts before you complain to me.

Unfortunately Finch you have no idea of high end CPM networks.
You haven’t even mentioned federated media, six appart, technorati media, glam– some neworks provide CPM higher than $30. also why your ads don’t have defaults* I see PSAs-

@Smiley Yeh all of these companies pay for CPM. The majority I have already worked with and most pay on time. But I really highly recommend Tribal Fusion and Adify (who are not on the list).

hey does clickbooth really offer cpm and does all these other networks pay for the cpm? it is not really sending high traffic to their banners but it is getting paid at the end which will make u work harder in the game!

I included all the major ad networks and Im pretty sure I have a lot more experience in the industry than you. However, that being said of course it depends on your channel, however why would I add sites like ad.com (bad cpm rates). Plus, you mention rubicon, admeld and daisy chain, which barely get used in the industry at the moment.

This article has (1) poor grammar; (2) is blatantly innacurate; and (3) has zero research. This is why blogging gets a bad name.

For those unfortunate few that read this .. He has included only one of the four hightail networks and included only a couple in the top 20. These are the networks that pay publishers well. Not the longtail 1998 networks like valueclick and burst. This person obviousely googled “ad network” and then made a blog posting about it.

The correct answer is: It depends. What channel are you in? If you are in entertainment, a “site rep firm” like guerilla nation might be best because they specialize in that channel. If you are a quality site with high reach like an about.com that touches many channels then you need to work with all the big boys like tribal fusion, ad.com, Adconion.com, or drivePM. You should get a good ad manager like a rubicon or admeld and daisy chain with tight frequency caps. Finally, you should look at your own site and place your ad units above the fold with 300×250, 728×90 and 160×600 sizes. Finally, you should offer quality, clean (non-UGC) content, unlike this blog posting.
