Facebook Offers Better Jobs than Google

Glassdoor, company which collects information about employees in different companies anonymously and voluntarily, presented a report saying that people working in Facebook are not only paid more but also the social network offers a better work environment.

Here’s the rating for most important companies salaries in the software engineer category:

Google offers an average annual salary of $98K and Facebook for the same jobs is giving $110K, making this the most important salary around all companies; Cisco, Yahoo and Apple appears right after Facebook.

But that’s not all, work climate is an important factor in every job; and Facebook makes a difference in this area as well.

Based upon a 5-point scale, Facebook scores 4.6 as the top company in work environment; Google appears third with 3.9 (AOL and Apple appear fourth and fifth). And, surprisingly or not, HP offers the “worst” work climate raked with 2.7.

Q10 – Free, minimalistic Word Processor for Windows

For many writers, the main problem when using a computer is the endless amounts of distractions that come along with them. At least I know it was for me. Even if I was just using Word I’d find myself focusing more on formatting, fonts and colours rather than actually getting the word out. However, since I started using Q10 my productivity has almost doubled.

Q10 is a basic word processor that looks like it’s from the early 80s. Just a black screen with basic text when you type. You can also have the noise of a typewriter as you type which I find gets the momentum going.

You can change the colour setting for the text.

There are other benefits to using this program a well. Firstly, it’s better for your eyes as there is less light to process and the text is easier to read. Also, if you’re using a laptop, because much of your screen is black you batter is spared enormously. How much power do you waste while using a word processor to light up 95% of your screen white?

We Transfer: Send Large Files With Ease

Sending a whopping file of 1.5Gb can be annoying. Firstly you have the constraints likely imposed by your e-mail provider which disallows such large e-mails meaning you’ll have to break it up or compress it. Then of course you have the time it can take for said e-mail to be sent and may God help you if you’re sending it to multiple recipients.

We Transfer is an a great start-up service which allows you to easily send large files of up to 2Gb to anyone without using traditional e-mail. It’s really easy to use and quicker than most services for two reasons.

Firstly, you don’t have to register with the service. Secondly, you only have to fill out one quick form which you can see a sample of above. It takes less than a minute. Once you click transfer, that’s it. Your file is uploaded to their servers and can be downloaded within the following two weeks by the recipient who’ll get an e-mail notifying them of the pending file. Quick, easy and efficient.

Startuply – Work for Start-ups

Seeing as Crenk is a start-up review site, it occurred to us during our day of endless pondering that many of you may be interested in working for a start-up. But getting in with one can be tough. By their very nature start-ups are small and have a tight knit staff; normally friends who spotted a gap in the market or had a great idea.

Staruply is basically a job site that serves only to advertise jobs in start-ups where YOU can apply for them. Many of the jobs are for things like PR, development and editing. The homepage has the most recent jobs posted by start-ups looking for staff. This list of jobs gives you basic information such as if it is telecommute, fulltime and the salary.

Start-ups can also post jobs for free by using the ‘Post’ option along the top of the site.

Given the recession, many are out of work but have loads of marketable skills. With thousands of people turning to the internet for employment, you better be quick about applying.

In summary: This is a very useful site for the young glossy-eyed graduates and experienced professionals alike.
