Upgrade My MySpace Profile to Profile 2.0

Myspace has been a lot way behind Facebook in terms of user interface. Myspaces’ answer is to get users to use “Myspace 2.0″ profiles.

Log in to MySpace and you see a bunch of places that might offer up the possibility of upgrading, notably including “Page Themes”. Click on that, though, and you see the same dozen or so options with no indication that there might be something greater underneath.

Try “My Account” and you’ll wander around without getting there either.

The secret? You need to choose “Customize Profile” from the “Profile” option on the navigation menu:

Choose that and you’ll be asked if you’re ready to upgrade:

Choose “Upgrade to Profile 2.0″ and…

Won’t take long for you to get this cheery window:

That’s it, you’re in the Profile 2.0 world. Stay tuned, I’ll be writing about how to do lots of cool things with MySpace Profile 2.0 here over the next few weeks…

Now, as to why you’d want to update, MySpace offers some suggestions on that too:

  • Profile 2.0 gives you granular control over privacy, and enhanced customization options.
  • Hide your comments, friends, age, last login, and more.
  • Make parts of your profile visible to specific groups of friends (friend categories).
  • New themes to style your page without any knowledge of HTML or pasting codes.
  • Profile 2.0 loads faster and has a sleeker, more modern look.

Apple Launched a New Version of Apple TV

Apple has recently updated their Apple TV to version 3.0.2. This new update is related to the release of Aperture 3.0, which made changes to how that software shares images over the local network and adds support for iPhoto’s Places and Faces features. The new Apple TV Version 3.0.2 can be downloaded and installed from the Update Software option within the Settings/General menu on Apple TV. [Apple Insider]

Apple Gets Generous?

OS X Snow LeopardLast Friday I treated myself to a new 17″ MacBook Pro (that’s a story for another post though!) One thing that always puts me off is as soon as I buy one a new one comes out, so I thought I would be safe buying a couple of weeks after the WWDC when it was upgraded. Of course the other big news at the WWDC was the upcoming official release of OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard due to be released in September.

It made me think, do I have to pay the full price to upgrade my OS even though it’s not far away and I’ve just spent a small fortune in the Apple store?

So a bit of poking around on the Apple website came up with an interesting page (one I might add that is not well linked to!)

UK – http://www.apple.com/uk/macosx/uptodate/
US – http://www.apple.com/macosx/uptodate/

So the deal is simple if you bought a new Mac on or after June 8th you get a special upgrade price! $9.95 USD and £7.95 GBP (gotta love Apples currency conversions!) You have to claim within 60 days of purchase and before December 26th 2009 but it seems well worth it.

You can apply at the above links pay by credit/debit card and it will be shipped upon release. Makes a nice change for Apple to do something nice seeing as they charged me £20 to buy a Mini-Display Port to DVI adaptor!!!!

You Can Now Update to Wordpress 2.7 Just Like Crenk

Here at Crenk we have updated our site to the new Wordpress 2.7 and it is better than ever.

It only took about five minutes to upload via FTP and it is so much better than the previous 2.6 version.

The interface is a lot easier to look at and the dashboard has so many features to use. Additionally, one of the best features has to be editing and commenting right within the admin dashboard. Brilliant.

If you haven’t already head over to Wordpress.org and download Wordpress 2.7 now.

Foxytunes: Control Your Music and Video Through Your Browser

Yesterday we wrote about Firefox 3 and potential themes that you can download, but today we are going to talk about one of the most popular add-ons on Firefox 3, Foxytunes. Foxytunes is currently owned by Yahoo and improved a lot in the last 6 months or so.

Foxytunes lets you control almost any media player and find lyrics, covers, videos, bios and much more with a click right from your browser.

Foxytunes can either be download from their website or via the Firefox add-on section. Either way this free download is a must for all web users!

Firefox 3: Top 3 Themes to Download. Go Upgrade Now

The majority of Firefox 3 users are still using Firefox 2, but it is now time to upgrade to Firefox 3! Already here on Crenk we have covered Firefox 3 Download day and 7 Firefox add-ons to help you browse anonomously, but we thought it was time that we covered some Firefox 3 themes that we thought you should go and download right now. These themes are worth upgrading for.

Phoenity Reborn – A colorful theme with multiple icon sizes to customize your browser buttons. This theme is totally compatible with Firefox 3 and might even just brighten up your day at work. Well probably not really.

Walnut – This has to be one of the sexiest Firefox 3 themes out there. It kinda looks like a wood grain dash board, but I must admit I would much rather be sitting in a car with this as interior than playing around on Firefox.

Red Cats -Well im not too sure if this should be called red cats, should be orange cats. This theme has some great extensions and it also comes in blue, you can ask for more than that.

Zlio Are Still On The Rise In The Shopping World

Zlio have some news. The have just announced they have a new voting and classifcation system that will allow Zlio to regularly promote users stores on both their homepage and other pages, thus bringing in a great deal more traffic to your site. This service is due to launch in a couple of weeks.  Other new features will include:

  • A search engine that will allow you to find store within a certain key word or theme
  • The ability to add several products at the same time
  • A commissions upgrade, so this can be accessed with greater efficiency
  • Finally, administration upgrade, so you can move between different stores and pages more freely

This is good news for Zlio who claim to currently be the largest online shopping centre in the world, with over 210,000 stores in their network. Make sure you keep an eye out for this news to be all over the web in the next few weeks, because im sure as part of their marketing campaign they will try to push a lot of traffic to their home page, so stores within the network can benefit.
