Today, LG have unveiled their first ever laptop which is also the first ever laptop to get the official Windows 7 touch screen seal-of-approval sticker from Micrsoft. This is different to other touch screen laptops out there which use primitive overlay touch screen technology found on many budget touch screen phones. By using an inbuilt screen technology which leaves the screen firm and doesn’t reduce picture quality and responsiveness, LG are sure to have success with this model.

Undoubtedly, Samsung will be unveiling a competitor to this new product in the coming weeks and months, perhaps a little disgruntled having been bet to the post. Perhaps these touch screen laptops will be the new ‘iPad’ seeing as that doesn’t have enough computing power for most of us.

The LG model will go into mass production in the second half of this year although I’m sure some review units will be floating around. For now, we have this video from LG.

Android phones are taking over. The OS is becoming hugely popular and could very well dethrone Apple, not this year, not next year, but soon. As the only real rival in the market, coming from Google, Android phones are popping up across the various cell phone providers to include T-Mobile and Verizon, and now Android will debut on the AT&T network with the Motorola Backflip.

The phone sports a 3.1 touchscreen to interact with offering full tactile response on a screen that is rich and vibrant in color and detail. The screen flips around to work in tandem with a full Qwerty keyboard offering typing ease for those not comfortable with the touch-type option. According to the site the back also functions as a media stand if you were to watch content on your mobile device, basically becoming hands free. The Backflip sports 6 hours of continuous talk time, with a standby time of 13.5 days which makes this a heavy hitter in terms of batter life.

The device will also come accompanied with a 5 mega-pixel camera, GPS, and Bluetooth. Currently there is no pricing on this device, but it is expected to release first quarter of 2010.

This new e-reader is definitely going to turn some heads. It feels like I’m writing a lot about tablets and touch devices and today is no different. It’s time for the Kindle and Nook to take a back seat to this amazing piece of viewing technology which functions as a full fledged e-reader touting a screen size of 11.5 inches with a resolution of 1200 x 1600. This reader is not for the feint of heart.

Unlike the past e-readers, including the Nook and Kindle, the Skiff Reader uses LG’s “Metal Foil” e-paper technology to bring you crystal clarity that is unparallel in readers of this size. Both the Nook and Kindle use a glass touch surface which makes it much for fragile and susceptible to breaking. This added bonus makes it much more travel friendly and a great reader option for the clumsy.

The device is expected to be sold via Sprint on their 3G network. The device which sports the wi-fi connectivity of its predecessors will also have the ability to download from a virtual store. The reader also offers benefits for publishers looking to put content on the reader. You can find information on publisher benefits here.

Skiff Reader sports an 11.5 in. touch surface.

Now that CES is in full swing, we’ve had the honor to view some of the hottest tech gadgets around. 2010 is sure to be an amazing year for innovation as everything become more mobile, more accessible, and more interactive. Lenovo has taken all three of those points and created a device that at first I had to do a double take on. There was a time when laptops were as mobile as you go, and then there were smaller mobile devices with touch screens that cut the cord of having to be plugged into an outlet while you sat at a table or a desk.

Lenovo has created and released the IdeaPad U1 Hybrid Notebook. The device screams innovation, but I’m curious as to the actual use of the device as it seems interesting, but the convertible functionality seems a but much. You’ve got what appears to be a normal laptop that opens up and offers the same use that any other laptop offers, or you can simply snap off the screen and carry around a large touch pad similar to an oversized iPhone. The U1 offers up a unique dual processor design while sporting a dual OS, unlike most standard laptops.

Should you choose to carry the screen around as a touch pad, you’re privy to the 11.1 HD LED screen with a wireless 3G connection capability. When it comes to versatile this little device takes the cake, but is it enough to carry it. Sure it comes in many colors can comes in at $1000, it’s like getting two devices in one, but I’m not so sure the public wants it. Most are waiting for a touch pad to begin with and those same people are waiting for Apple’s big announcement. Still I give Lenovo credit for combining two things we love and making it work.

At this stage I’m getting fed up. Every day I open my inbox there are a dozen e-mails from colleagues and readers of the

various publications I write for including Crenk asking about the news or a new product. There’s always at least one talking about the supposed upcoming Mac Tablet.

‘What do you reckon will be included?’, they ask.

Honestly, I’m nowhere near 100% certain. Obviously you’d have a touch screen QWERTY keyboard, media centre of some sort and maybe even fingerprint recognition (I believe Apple have patented that idea).

In truth, only the bigwigs at Apple could tell us. And even then they would probably just numb our brains with pre-release jargon so we all buzz around the internet still asking ‘Ohh, what could it be?!’

My reason for writing this post is clear and simple. I want to know what you would like in a Mac tablet. Send us in your thoughts, opinions and ravings here at Crenk. Either leave a comment below of tell us on the Crenk Twitter.

They could be about anything – ‘when will it be released?’, ‘what features will it have?’, ‘how much will it cost?’, ‘what will it look like?’ and so on. I look forward to reading your replies.
