Hollywood, for some, is a place of fantasies and dreams considered unattainable by many. There’s a great many of us who at one point dreamed of making it big and entertaining millions. For some of us we watch movies and laugh, saying that we could easily have played that part better. Well now you can put yourself in a movie with Yoostar.
Yoostar provides you with a green screen, studio-grade webcam, remote control and PC software. The price for being famous comes in at the low cast of $170. The package comes with 12 movie scenes to select from, placing you in the middle of the action, but more scenes are available via download. So now reach that Hollywood status may not be something we all achieve from real life, but in all, this sounds like a fun way to approach a Friday or Saturday night, but how long does the fun really last?
Your recordings and placement into the movie scenes are spit out in a web-ready clip that can be posted online for all your friends to see. Personally this sounds like something I’d probably pass over, but for some of us, it’s as attractive as Karaoke. I know better that if I was not cast in a movie or allowed to sing a song I stay away…far away. The worst part of the whole experience?
“Playing at a home near Yoo!”
Is that what the marketing team came up with? This does not bold well my friends.
ScreenTunes is a free search tool that helps users find where a song has been played in any piece of professionally-produced video content. You just type in the name of the song and it tells you all the films and TV shows in which it’s appeared. You can then listen to the track right from the results (using Grooveshark), or purchase the track on iTunes or Amazon’s online stores.
Along with acting as a search tool for individual songs, ScreenTunes can be used to look up a track by its lyrics. This also works on entire movie titles, so you can type the name to get a quick track list.
ScreenTunes is a very hit and miss service at the moment and I noticed it takes a lot time to actually load the Grooveshark section at times. Additionally, I noticed there are still lots of searches that yield zero results, I guess they will build their catalogue size over time. Clearly you get better results if it’s a mainstream track, but it’s surprising to see how many places any one song can end up.
It has been reported this morning that Tivo and Quantcast have partnered. This is a very interesting partnership that is aimed to help Tivo sell more advertising on their service. Tivo will combine real time stats on TV viewing along with the users activity on the web which provides advertisers with a much rounded and needed statistics package. This will also prove or rather help publishers get an idea what amount of the audience sticks to the traditional TV viewership and how much of it has been taken away by the online streaming video.
This is a great step forward for Quantcast who seem to be receiving a lot more praise and partners of late. I’m seeing Quantcast gaining a lot more quantified publishers on the net and it is great to see more sites actually being open about their stats and audience.
Bing the new search engine from Microsoft launched on the 1st of June and since then they have been getting a lot of hype and even people moving over to use their service. I personally cant see the difference between Bing and Live.com in terms of results, if anyone can let me know how they are different that would be great.
Anyways, Microsoft has just launched the first advertisement for their new search engine Bing and here it is!
