Sony Ericsson has released the Mobile Sensor Actuator Link service, where application developers can connect Android phones and computer applications to enhance computer capability so that it can use the features of a smartphone such sensors, mobility, voice/video recording, etc. on the PC.
Wirefly has released details on the upcoming Sony Ericsson Xperia Play handset. The Xperia Play will be available on Verizon Wireless and it features very cool slide out gaming controls.
Sony Ericsson has a press event scheduled for Sunday, February 13th at 12:00PM ET in Barcelona at Mobile World Congress. We can expect to get all the official details on availability there.
I’ve actually been keeping my eye on this one for a few weeks now. It’s the up and coming Sony Ericsson Aspen. The reason it caught me eye is threefold. Firstly, it has a touch screen. Secondly, it has a Blackberry-style keypad. And lastly, it’s running WinMob 6.5.3. Oh, and it looks great too!
Now, a video has emerged which shows a Russian or Eastern European guy reviewing the phone. Unfortunately, it’s all in a foreign language but you can still make out some of the great features of the phone. He first shows you the exterior casing and build quality. Then he powers up the phone and takes you through some of the very impressive 6.5.3 menus and functions. The media player and messaging options are displayed in great detail.
Lastly, he compares the device alongside devices from other popular Smartphone manufacturers such as Apple and RIM. Check out the new Sony Ericsson Aspen below.
Handsets are hot, the Nexus One, iPhones, and more to come that are sure to burn a hole in our pockets as we look for the best form and function phones we can use. Most recently Android has become the new mobile OS that is driving the market crazy, perhaps even surpassing the usability of the iPhone OS. There seems to be little room for the Windows OS on mobile platform, but they still power some pretty nice handsets, and the new upcoming Sony Ericsson Aspen is just one of them.
Planned for a Quarter 2 release with no price tag attached, the Sony Ericsson Aspen is part of the company’s GreenHeart line. This means you’re going to find a much more eco-friendly handset then in previous models. To set this handset apart the site states that the Aspen will “offer eco-friendly features like a power saving mode, eco mate application, electronic manuals, waterbourne painting, and a body made form recyclable materials.”
While a Windows OS phone may not seem attractive, the Aspen is, and with new developments to the OS, it’s sure to go hand in hand very well. The device will offer a full QWERTY-keyboard for quick messaging, microSD storage, a 2.4in QVGA screen, 3.5mm head phone jack, FM radio, GPS, WIFI, Google Maps and so much more.
