SunRed has released a concept scooter called the Scooterdillo. The scooter has an armadillo-like “shell” of solar panels. When the scooter is parked the panels are pulled over its body, allowing the little bike to charge in the sun while its rider takes care of non-scooter business.
The scooter has a top speed of around 30 MPH and a range of 12 miles per charge. Currently, its only a concept, but it would be great to see this come to market.

I recently heard about a new solar yacht that was aiming to travel around the world. The Turanor PlanetSolar is an amazing solar super yacht. The yacht itself costs around $17.5 million to build the it has a four man crew.
The yacht features 825 solar panels that can generate up to 93.5 kilowatts of power.
The four-man crew will cross the Atlantic Ocean, Panama Canal, Pacific Ocean, Indian finalizing with the Suez Canal, before setting back home by the Mediterranean. The stopovers along the journey will be organised in large port cities of Miami, Hong Kong, Singapore and Cancun for examples.
What happens when there is no sun? Lithium-ion batteries in both floats power up the ship during the hours of the night and for up to three sunless days. A computer controls the flow of energy to the batteries and motors that rotates the yachts six foot propeller.

I didnt really expect Ralph Lauren to the company to first launch the solar powered backpack, but they have! The Ralph Lauren RLX backpack has a large solar panel built in and it can charge a phone in two hours. The solar backback is completely water resistant, lots of pockets, generate 3.45 watts and is available in two colours for $795.
Great idea, shame about the price!

One of the main reasons Apple’s products have become so popular is because they’re sleek, slim and small. The iPhone, iPods and Mac Books should, in their own right, be twice their sizes considering what they can do. It seems Apple is always ahead of the competition when it comes to the size of things. So it goes without saying that Apple customers like their gadgets small. So how about a three-foot tall iPhone charger?
Then Reverb iPhone solar charger stands at a whopping 3 feet and is over a foot wide as well. Your iPhone/iPod is perched in the upper right-hand corner of the monster where it can take 40 hours to charge indoors, and twenty hours outdoors. Seriously? So it’s three-feet tall and take almost two days to charge your device and it’s never going to look good perched on your windowsill. But do you want to know the main reason they’re not going to sell? Here’s why: $2,229 !!!
They’re due to launch in April next year.
