Blackberry Makes A Dick Tracy Watch?

Pssst…

Remember that movie from the late 80’s, early 90’s, Dick Tracy. Yeah the one with Madonna in it playing Breathless Mahoney. Okay so you remember right? Well now forget everything you remember about that movie, Dick Tracy is one of those movies you never admit you watch.

All forgotten?

Okay, now imagine how cool it would be to have a watch that served as your communication to the world, kinda like Dick Tracy, just not that movie that you are supposed to forget. Now imagine how much cooler it would be if it synced with your mobile device and gave you access to all the things you needed without ever having to take out your phone. I’m talking emails, files, and apps. Yeah Dick Tracy eat your heart out.

All of this is a reality with the Inpulse Blackberry Smartwatch ($150) by Allerta makes your mobile experience even more interesting. The device straps to your wrist and has all the functionality of a watch with the sleekness and functionality of your Blackberry. The watch connects wirelessly via bluetooth to sync with your phone with a vibrating motor to let you know you’ve got updates. It sports 1.3 inch full-color OLED screen. Good enough for messages, apps, and other quick thing, just don’t expect to watch any movies.

Amazingly as if that was not enough you can also receive SMS messages on there, view calendars, schedules, to-do lists, and so much more after customizing it, why not go out and solve mysteries, it worked for Dick Tray right?

Nevertheless it’s all an effort to make sure that you don’t miss any of your messages/phone calls. In my opinion it’s as cool as wearing one of those Casio calculator watches. Yep, if you think that’s still cool, you’re probably not a hit with the ladies…or guys.

Swaggle: Send Group Text Messages with Predefined Groups

swaggle logoDespite all the apps, iPhones, e-mail, IM etc… The best way to organise something is with a text. Why? Because not everyone is on call at the same time or checks their e-mails regularly. But they do have their mobile phone with them 95% of the time. So, a group message it is. Say you want to organise a get together with friends, or an office party simply send them all a quick text using Swaggle.

Swaggle is an online service that lets you send pre defined groups text messages. You can have as many groups as you like and sending them all texts is free. All you have to do is log into Swaggle.mobi and select which group you want to contact; family, gym, work, school, friends etc…

This is way handier than doing it on your mobile where it will cost you and take a long time to select the desired contacts in your phonebook; especially if there are over ten people working in your office!

SaySoMobile: Make Money Receiving Text Ads On Your Mobile Phone

Are you sick and tired of receiving crappy spam messages in your inbox every single day? Well why only receive spam in your inbox when now you can also receive it on your mobile phone! This all comes from a new startup called SaySoMobile.

SaySoMobile is a new startup in which users can sign up and receive advertisements straight onto their mobile phone and in return the user makes a little money. Its that simple!

The idea is simple. Advertisers want access to people which gets their message across as much as possible for as little as possible. This new startup allows advertisers to target certain people in certain countries with advertisements direct onto their mobile phones via messages. Advertisers know that with this method the high majority of ads will be opened before they can be deleted, thus having a higher possibility of providing them a return on their investment.

Im very interested to hear from people using this service to make a little extra money, mainly to see if the money they are making is worth the intrusiveness of the advertisements.

Tatango: Free Ad-supported Group SMS Service

tatango-logoTatango is a new ad-supported group SMS service which has been making huge steps forward since gaining funding and a new design six months or so ago.

Sign up, invite some friends (they have to opt-in, else this thing would be a spam machine), and you (or anybody you dub as a group admin) are able to SMS the entire group at once, either from the browser or right off your mobile handset.

The basic service is free, supported by 30 character advertisements strapped to the bottom of each message. Ad-free messaging is available along with a few other pay-per-option premium features but, at just under $35 bucks a month.

Are My Sites Up: Monitors When Your Sites Are Down and Send Notifications

There are so many places on the net these days where you can track if a specific website is down for just you or for the entire internet. Today I have no idea why but I wanted to introduce you to another such startup, Are My Sites Up.

Are My Sites Up is a new web based startup that allows you to track the up time of web sites and it even sends you notifications when they are down.

Currently in the free service you are able to setup 50 sites to monitor and for that you also receive a great control panel and even set it to email you or send you an SMS update when one of your monitored sites is down. The service requires no ownership of or modification to the web sites you are monitoring, you can use it on your own site or any site you want to keep an eye on.
