I’m really not too sure if anyone has already reported about this, but Youtube video players which are hosted off the Youtube site now have their own drop down search tool. I have added the video below so you can have a look:

This is a great idea! Now any Youtube off site video player is pretty much as useful as being on the Youtube site itself. Any video can be played in the one player. I admit because the player can be quite small at times, the search results don’t show too many results at once, so you have to be pretty specific to find the exact video you want. However this is a great addition from Youtube!

Additionally, when searching for an image to use I came across this,

When using Google image search instead of searching then finding an image then if that isn’t the right image, then you have to go back and keep doing the same process. Thus getting a little annoying. However, now you can search straight in Google image search while still looking at a page. I know, not big news but just thought someone actually might be interested in this.

The service is still in private beta.

The Stockholm-based Spotify can essentially be summed up, in the words of one blogger, as a kind of hybrid of Skype, last.fm, the iTunes Store and Bittorrent. A lightweight iTunes-like application streams songs via encrypted P2P technology. The service is ad-financed, hence the comparison with Last.fm.

Spotify has the same look and feel as iTunes, but it basically just a huge library in which allows users to stream albums and tracks as much as they want. Im not sure how they are going to include the advertising part of the business, because it is currently missing from the design. However, they have a great design and this could be a tool that is going to be used a lot in the future, but only as long as they get the monetization part of the business correct.

Today Yahoo have announced the release of the brand new version of FoxyTunes, in which they purchased back in February.

The new version is for IE (fresh beta) and it has some great new customisation option to boot. Now you can change the appearance of your FoxyTunes by installing custom skins (we’ve already got 11 skins available) and down the road you’ll be able to create your very own. We’ve even added a FoxyTunes Mini, basically a universal desktop widget that’s a customizable, collapsible, and skinnable version of its big bro. The best part — there’s a timer and alarm clock feature that lets you set your media player to your favorite song.

Download the new version here.
