Back in February I talked about Kindo and how they receive some seed funding. Kindo.com is a family networking site in which users can build their own free family tree, invite whoever is a part of it, and stay in touch with their loved ones.

This time Kindo has just launched photo sharing for families with unlimited upload in all its 14 languages. It is a quick and easy way to share family moments with your close relatives over the internet, without making your personal pictures public or congesting email inboxes.

Even families without detailed technical knowledge can rapidly share their family photos on kindo.com. Users can easily arrange photos in the new albums as they wish and add descriptions, geographical locations and comments. And the upload of new photos will automatically be shown to all the relatives through Kindo’s family news feed.

London-based family tree social network Kindo today announced a round of funding from Ambient Sound Investments (ASI). The Estonian investment company joins seed investors Saul and Robin Klein of The Accelerator Group (TAG), and Stafan Glanzer, the initial investor of Last.fm.

Users can build their own free family tree, invite whoever is a part of it, and stay in touch with their loved ones. Unlike a lot of English-only social networks these days, Kindo has a particular focus on the international landscape. The site currently supports 14 languages: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish and Turkish.

The investment round was led by Eileen Broch, who stated in the press release, “In the short time since they’ve been live, Kindo has proven that they know how to build a product that can be embraced by young and old alike. It is already loved by families around the world, which is what appealed to us the most.

Kindo is the available in 14 languages. The family networking site has just announced that they have launched their popular network in Chinese and Arabic.

Kindo is where families get together, build their tree, and grow. With Kindo, you can build your own family tree for free, share it with the rest of your family, and learn more about who you are.

The strategy Kindo is adopting to launch into these 2 fast growing internet user bases is a good one. Since 2000 the internet userage has grown by 620% in China and 490% in the Middle East.

“Launching into Chinese and Arabic is a logical step in our truly international strategy. China is a very exciting opportunity for us, and we’re eager to expand further in Asia”, Gareth Knight, co-founder and in charge of product development strategy.

For me, Kindo is a great idea with a huge amount of potential. However, once they have launched for all languages it is hard to see where the business model will head next. The only options then would be to move on to the next startup and try to just promote Kindo as much as possible. Kindo is not going to take over the world, but it is a product that is interesting and something that is worth investing time in.
