Cadillac Converj Is GM’s Other Electric Car Competitor To The Chevy Volt

cadillacconverjnaiasSurprisingly the Chevy Volt isnt the only electric car GM is working on at the moment. GM also plans to roll out the Cadillac Converj, which as you can see from the picture above looks a little like a Honda Civic, but looks very close to the original Cadillac Converj concept car they announced last January.

GM doesnt talk about the stats on the Cadillac Converj at the moment, but its said that they are very similar to the Chevy Volt.

Currently, there is no word on the price range, but it does have a faster top speed and bigger milage range than the Chevy.

Renault Zoe: Electric Car Which Is More Like a Spa Treatment Than a Car

Renault-Zoe-ZERenault have yet another crazy concept car. This time its the new Renault Zoe Z.E, which seems more like a luxury driving option than a real car.

Its reported that the engineering focus is on the car’s climate control system, which has an electric diffuser built right in, capable of spreading specialty oils around the cabin.

Renault’s Zoe may not be just a concept, either, as the company is hinting that the electric car could see production as early as 2012.

Tesla Motors Receives Funding from US Government

tesla-model-s-sedanThe Department of Energy has now made it official that Tesla Motors will receive $465 million in government loads to fund its Model S sedan.

There has been a lot of talk about Elon Musk (Tesla Chairman) and how he is running his company, but it seems to me that he is slowly getting somewhere with his affordable electric car idea.

At the moement it is no small feat to convince the USA federal government of Tesla’s financial viability. However the new model S sedan I think really has a chance to become a lot more mainstream than the first Tesla roadster.

Daimler’s recent 10 percent stake in the company no doubt helped. Now Musk just has to build a $100 million powertrain factory and deliver an affordable electric sedan in less than two and a half years — or hope his new investors are as flexible about such deadlines as the rich California environmentalists who have funded him until now.
