StopBadware.org: Crenk Got Attacked by Korea

You might have noticed towards the end of last week Crenk got hacked and someone from South Korea placed malicious software onto our website. The only way I could get rid of it was to reinstall Wordpress. The site is now back to normal and it is functioning fine. However, this being said, the intrusion has caused us a great deal of problems and has also killed our traffic. Google has placed the site on watch and has been suspended from their search results until the problem has been resolved. Now it has all been resolved so Google will be placing the site back up in the next day. Thank you good people at Google. This cost us a lot of traffic!

Has anyone else had the same problem or a similar one?

Crenk Is Now Visible on Google News

The nice people over at Google have now added Crenk to their Google News service. This is a great boost for us, because we are slowly getting seen as an authority within the Technology sector. Who knows at this rate we might even be challenging Techcrunch, Mashable and Read/Write Web, one day.

Add Crenk WebClip To Your iPhone or iPod Touch

After yesterdays big announcements at MacWorld, Crenk can now be added to your iPhone or iPod Touch Home Page.

If you head to crenk.com in your Safari browser and then bookmark the site, a few options will appear and one is to add Crenk to you Home Page. This will bring up a confirmation page and then it will be amazingly added to your Home Page, with a nice little icon that looks like this:

Welcome to the new Crenk Theme

In the last three months we have had a lot of changes here at Crenk. Our previous theme was personalised and since we now have Ade on the team it was a good time to move from a personal weblog style to a more commercial theme.

I have never thought about Crenk being a pure commercial entity. It has long been my personal weblog and I would never want it to be seen as just a stupid money making blog that is trying to earning as much in revenue as it can per month. Since on the new theme I have placed Adsense, this will not be a permanent fixture, just a stop gap until I can arrange some nice in-house placements.

The colour scheme on Crenk has changed and some bought some much needed branding to the site.

Please bear with us as we make a few changes over the coming days. If you have any suggestions or comments about the new theme, please let us know.

Thanks and hope you like the new theme.

Crenk Team

We have been linked from several top sites such as Read/Write Web, Marketing Pilgrim and Reuters. Crenk has also been rising on Technorati, Alexa and more. If you would like to help us grow our site make sure you check out the following links:

From the Crenk team we would just like to thank all of our readers in helping us make our site what it is today and we look forward to providing more interesting technology and web 2.0 news for many more months to come.

Joost and Meebo Partner, But I Have No Idea Why!

It has been reported around the web yesterday evening that Meebo has partnered with Joost to provide Chat solutions.

Joost has chosen Meebo as the provider of chat solution on its IPTV service, but I really dont see the point and how this is going to enhance the user experience on Joost. When users log onto IPTV services they do so for the one reason of watch TV shows Free, not to chat to their friends. If they did use the service to chat to their friends how are they going to see what is on the TV, because although it is transparent to some degree, it is still going to be annoying. Thus if you wanted to run both at the same time why not just minimise the Joost service and run Meebo or another chat client in another window. Overlays just dont work!
