New iPod Nano to Feature 1.3 Megapixel Camera and No Clip

There has been a leaked photo on the upcoming iPod nano which seems to have removed the clip design and added a 1.3 megapixel camera. The images was leaked by Apple.pro, so it seems pretty safe to say this is going to be the next iPod nano.

It is very surprising to see the clip removed, especially considering a lot of people use the clip when listening to their music on the go. Im not really sure a camera is the way forward.. are they just trying to make it yet another device that can use Facetime?

The baby monitors products are definitely not new in the current market, but this is the first time an iPhone app is involved. The iPhone app cost is U$S39, and no, does not include the camera.

What do you need besides the app? A camera compatible with this app; the compatibility options should include: IP camera, Infrared, 2 way audio, iPhone compatible, 3G.

But we can also buy the official Baby Monitor camera, which is the recommended (of course), option for this site. The cost of this camera is U$S139, again, not exactly cheap but with tons of features which you can check them in the official site.

The general specs of this app are:

  • Digital monitoring eliminating all static noise common to baby monitors.

Lomography Spinner 360: Awesome Spinning Panoramic Camera

Panoramic cameras can produce some amazing shots. The Lomography Spinner 360 is an awesome spinning camera that takes unique images in a variety of ways…and the camera itself is just as awesome as the pictures it produces.

The camera works with the simple pull of a string: the user pulls the string and lets it go, and the camera’s top portion spins around while exposing the 35mm film inside. By holding the camera in different ways or controlling the speed with which the string retracts, the user can completely customize the way the images will turn out.

Professional iPhone Video with OWLE iPhone Video/Rig

Owle iPhone tripod.

Owle tripod with iPhone mounted.

The iPhone has set the standard for a lot of how we use our mobile devices. While competitors have tried to topple the giant from their throne, few have come close. We’re capturing photos and video more often with our mobile than any other device. As much as we love digital cameras, or digital video cameras, for everyday use we’re using our mobile devices to capture the moment. So perhaps now it’s time to upgrade your iPhone to the next level of video and photo capturing.

The OWLE iPhone Video/Rig is a professional tripod that houses your iPhone snugly and steadily to capture the moment on a whole new level. While it does take the mobility aspect out of the iPhone experience (you do have to lug around a tripod now), the OWLE iPhone Video/Rig offers up a snug casing for your device when it’s not on the mount, but when it is, that’s when the tripod’s offerings come into full effect. The rig offers a ribbed casing with a screw mounts on the corners, standard 37mm lens threading with an included 0.45x wide angle/macro combination lens, a shoe mount on top, and an included mini boom-mic for improved audio. Now that’s a powerful rig for your already powerful mobile device.

The rig is currently retailing for $130, but it’s a great addition to any serious recording you might be doing, especially if all you have is your mobile.

Kodak Slice Ambitious Pocket Cam

Digital cameras have gotten smaller, more precise in their shots, but some have become overly complicated. For many it’s personal preference

The Kodak Slice

Kodak Slice offers up 14 mega-pixel photo quality.

on what they trust and feel comfortable with. A company like Kodak carries a longstanding tradition of quality, expertise, and longevity. Recently Kodak has made a surprise jump into the “cool camera” running with the new Kodak Slice which is simply amazing.

The new pocket cam sports a 14 mega-pixel shot, a 3.5 inch touch-screen, 5x optical zoom lens, 720p/30fps HD video recording, and optical image stabilization. For a point and shoot, this little powerhouse is going to capture everything you need and more. Called the slice for the thin design that makes it easy for anyone to toss into their pocket and carry with them. Internally the camera itself can store up to 5,000 HD photos, which is mind blowing when you look at the size of this device.

I thin for many of us just the image stabilization is enough to warrant an eye on this camera. The reduction of unsteady hands can make any picture a worthwhile shot. Your point of reference on the back side, the touch screen, is surprisingly vibrant ensuring your shot is the best quality possible. The Kodak Slice currently retails for $350.

Explore Prague in 360

prague 360

When those world camera were  big craze a few years ago (I.e. you could watch your friend wave to your from TGI Friday’s in Time’s Square) I thought that would be that last of it. But recently, most notably with Google Street view which enables you to walk around a city, a new kind of virtual presence technology has taken off. I guess people want to see where they’re going or just take a look around if they’re bored. You can now view Prague in full 360 panorama.

“The creation of this image represents my previous five years’ obsession with all things panoramic,” says Jeffrey Martin, founder and CEO of 360 Cities. “If you’re stuck at home over Christmas, feeling humbuggy and don’t feel like hanging out with your family, you can explore Prague instead.”

360 cameras enable you to view a panoramic scene on your computer and move in 360 degrees. 360 cities is a Dutch company and they created this 18GB panoramic picture of Prague. It was taken from an SLR camera which rotated very slowly for a number of days. In total, hundreds of thousands of pictures were stitched together to form this wonderful creation which has over 18 billion pixels.

“The final image exists as a 120 Gigabyte Photoshop large (PSB) file,”

You can view the image for yourself right here.

Camera Genious for the iPhone Photographer

iphoneThe camera app that came with the iPhone is quite good. You get all of your basic features but nothing is really shines up to a glistening finish nor does it seem like Apple wants to improve on it. An app development company called CodeGoo seen a gap in the market and decided to make their new iPhone camera app called Camera Genius (well the name says it all really).

It is based more so on taking the right picture rather than just upping the specs of the camera. Take for example their feature called the “Rule of Thirds”. Basically, this feature divides the screen up into nine sections with three horizontal lines and three vertical ones. This technique is used by professional photographers to offset their subject slightly but it’s made really easy in this app.

The zoom feature is also better than the one that comes standard with the phone as it is more refined. Other cool things about this app include sound recorder which recognises a pre-defined noise to take the picture, Big Button which lets you tap anywhere on the screen to take the picture instead of fumbling for the small capture button and anti-shake (well, you figure that one out for yourself).

A cool app for those who are constantly snapping pictures on their iPhone but want more out of them.
