Nerrot is a simple bit torrent searcher that finds the torrent you are looking for. Nerrot is like a Google I’m feeling lucky search. You simply type in the name of what you are looking for and it will popup a download almost instantly. Nerrot though does not have any other features so it is pretty simple as you can see from the above screen shot. Also although the searches are most of the time rite there is no way of detecting if a torrent is fake because there are no comments. I recommend this to people who are just looking to download torrent really quick.
BitLet is an online torrent client that downloads the torrents for you without any torrent client. BitLet runs in java so there is no extra installing needed. This is also good if you don’t want to install a torrent client on your computer. Also it supports video streaming so you can download a torrent that is a video and have it stream. They also support streaming for music too.BitLet supports changing the port and even the upload rate. They also have a bookmarklet for Firefox and IE that allows you to download the torrent without having to go to the BitLet page. BitLet also has cool features like resume downloading, using a local or online torrent, and allows you to download more than one torrent at a time. They also show you your upload and download speed and even how many seeders and leachers. Most of the time the torrents will work but not always. I would recommend this to users who rarely download torrents and also to people who need to download a torrent but don’t have the time or want to install a client.. If you download torrents often then i would stick with whatever client you have.
Microsoft has just released some official Windows Phone 7 stats. The stats look very impressive and it seems they are gaining on a lot of other platforms.
Numbers:
11,500 applications
7,500 paid applications
36,000 developers
1,200 new developers being registered every week
Windows Phone 7 has shown some great growth, but the are still a long way behind iOS with 300,000 applications and Android with 100,000 applications.
“We recognize the importance of getting great apps on our platform and not artificially inflating the number of actual apps available to customer by listing “wallpapers” as a category, or perhaps allowing competitor’s apps to run on the platform to increase “tonnage.” We also don’t believe in the practice of counting “lite” apps as unique quality content. (…) Finally, we don’t double and triple count apps which are submitted in multiple languages.,” he explains in the blog post.
There is a great tutorial over at &yet which talks about using Backbone.js Models on the server with Node.js and Socket.io to built real-time apps. This tutorial is amazing and runs through all the steps in a very simple form to allow anyone to understand.
Using this approach we send very small changes over an already established connection, we can very quickly synchronize state from one client to the other or the server can get updates from an external data source, modify the model on the server and those changes would immediately be sent to the connected clients. Best of all – it’s fast.
DroidDraw it’s a free web app where we can design and build graphical user interfaces for an Android phone. DroidDraw also includes a standalone executable available for Mac OS X, Windows and Linux.
The Google OS for mobile devices is the most used operating system in smart phones… yes, even more than iPhone OS. And the market share estimated for the next few years says that this tendency won’t change; so if you were thinking about mobile apps design you better start with Android.
DroidDraw also offers free tutorials to understand this free tool and some nice guidelines and tips.
AutoDesk announced recently that they will provide a new version for AutoCAD, the most known CAD software available worldwide, which will include support, for the first time, to Mac users but also will be available for iPad and iPhone users.
CAD software is well-known in the professional life for designers, architects and engineers since it provides almost anything they need for a proper 2D or 3D design. AutoDesk in their 18 years existence has been avoiding, surprisingly for some, the Mac world; but fortunately for those professional or just geek AutoCAD lovers, they have new possibilities.
AutoCAD WS, as for Windows, the Mac version will be paid; but for iPad or iPhone users the application will be available for free, with some limitations of course.
Here are some of the features:
Open your DWG drawings for viewing, markup and editing.
AutoCAD WS mobile application supports Xrefs and image underlays, with Multi-Touch™ zoom and pan.
Tap objects to select, then move, rotate, and scale objects.
All edits are captured and stored in your online workspace, so your drawings are always up to date.
Share drawings with others through your iPad, iPhone, or iPod device. If other people are editing a drawing simultaneously with you, you’ll see their edits in real time.
Did you ever picture yourself using a 3D desktop on Windows? Aximion is the application available for converting our Windows desktop in a very cool 3D environment.
Windows desktops are indeed one of the most common places where we feel very comfortable, the simplicity and the fact that it did not have significant changes through the years are one of the reasons. But also, among the years, other possibilities appeared with other operating systems, making some interesting tweaks in user’s desktops.
Aximion makes our desktop look really cool, but it could take us a while to get used to it. One of the disadvantages is that the “Start” button is not available, so we must find our applications browsing around.
Requirements to use it:
Windows XP 32/64 bit, Home/Pro, Service Pack 1/2/3
Twee.li is an application which allows you to use it as a normal Twitter app but also gives you the ability to instantly chat with your followers. Tweet.li is completely free but still has some cons.
Tweet.li, developed in Adobe AIR, comes as an idea to replace TinyChat and other similar web apps which you can use in your browser but easily share the chat rooms to your Twitter timeline and invite followers; including also the possibility to login using your Twitter account name.
But even though the idea sounds great there are a few cons so far: To use it with your followers, they must use Tweet.li as well, no other option available; also the application stability and performance are not actually the best, since it takes a few moments for the timeline to update.
Even though I enjoy saying “Twitter is not a chat room”, there are some exceptions and there are even more number of users who actually use it for chatting.
Cameyo is offering a new and free possibility to handle your common applications, using a simple procedure you can capture a normal application installation into a portable package that can carry to use it on any other computer, without the need of installing this application again.
This capturing process is actually known as “application virtualization”; which can be found in several other technologies from Microsoft, Symantec and VMWare. All of them are paid technologies.
Here’s a video showing how Cameyo works, using a nice example of Opera + Flash + Java, all in one portable package:
Cameyo is not only free, but also offers a SDK (Software Development Kit) which developers can use to complement with Cameyo’s virtualization technology and also provides other nice features like automation features.
There are plenty of options in Apple’s App Store if you are looking for a calendar/task mobile app. Take your pick, chances you’ll find the one that best suits the way you like to task and prioritize your day. Some free, some you pay for, but ultimately there is no end in sight to the number of apps you can choose from to organize your day.
I’m always looking for unique ways to manage my systems. Task apps, to-do lists, I’ve seen them all before and few offer anything unique enough to make me change the way I’m doing things right now. The status quo was changed when I came across Diacarta. Not expecting fresh approach to scheduling and seeing my list of appointments, I was quickly caught up in exploring the display, how information is shared, and the interface. It’s a beautiful app no doubt and it does offer some unique approaches to the way we organize ourselves.
Rather than seeing your day in a line item list of text, you get to create a picture of your day. The premise of the entire app is associating image icons with things that need to get done during the day. This association creates your day and plans out by the hour what your agenda will look like visually. You still type in all the necessary details for your event or task, but it only shows up if you allow your finger to linger on the icon, it disappears when you move your finger.
