Most people already know a lot about the upcoming iPhone 5, but there is limited information about the Google Nexus 3.

The Google Nexus 3 isnt expected to be your average Android handset. The Nexus 3 will feature Android 4 software, which is expected to show off an all new user interface for the operating system. It will be very interesting to see if Google can actually ramp of sales of their own handsets, because up until now they have been unable to compete!

It seems like RIM are accepting that the corporate world will be dominated by iOS and Android.

There is still no word on any of the details, but we will report everything as it comes in.

CNN has just launched their new Android application which has some great features. The CNN Android app features reports, videos, and even CNN iReport.

CNN was trying to provide an indepth and immersive news experience and I think they might have pulled it off. The application allows the user to switch between US and international editions and has a huge range of text articles, videos, photos, live video, podcasts and more.

CNN is very late to the party, but they have at least delivered a decent product. The official app is free and is available for download now. The app runs on Android 2.1 and higher.

“An application like BabbleOn is the next step in the social media arena, and will certainly revolutionize the way we communicate online,” said Michael Mills, President and founder of BabbleOn. “This application will break down the walls of social media communication and allow users to create voice messages for all to actually hear. For instance, you can sing Happy Birthday to your sister who lives across the country, record your baby’s first words, tell all your friends all at once you just got engaged or just update your status… the possibilities are endless and more efficient and satisfying than typing a message.”

Using the App is just as easy. Simply log on to your Facebook account through the BabbleOn App, press and hold the talk bubble to record then choose to post your message either to your wall or your friend’s wall on Facebook. The BabbleOn App includes:

Simple and intuitive user interface.

Ability to listen to your babble (recorded message) to determine whether you delete and start over again before posting to Facebook.

Provides full access to your friends list on Facebook.

Add custom text to babbles.

BabbleOn Technologies Inc. plans to expand the BabbleOn App with the upcoming launch of the online BabbleOn Community (www.BabbleOn.com). The website will allow users to follow friends, celebrities or products and see what all the babble is about as well as mingle and voice opinions on various topics via their computer or smartphone.

There have been a lot of reports that the Android platform now has over 250,000 apps. I find this a little hard to believe when the Apple App Store only has around 350,000 apps. I know the Android platform has been gaining a lot of adoption recently, but has it really grown this much?

Last month, Google former CEO Eric Schmidt (now chairman) at the Mobile World Congress revealed to the world that the Android Market had surpassed 150,000 apps as of February.

Thus, in a little over 30 days have they really added 100,000 apps!

Over the past year Im sure there has been an arguement on whether to choose an Android phone or an iPhone pretty much every minute. Here is some new research from Blaze that concluded that webpages loaded faster on Android devices compared to iPhone.

Poor old Steve Jobs has always mentioned the speed of iOS, but in fact they need to step it up a gear.

Blaze ran over 43,000 tests and the research was very conclusive. Real phones were used, connecting to real websites and measured using custom-built agents designed to measure page load speed.

Will you now be more interested in getting an Android phone?

The brilliant social news application Pulse has released a few extra features that were a long time in coming. Pulse now features six popular social media sites as sources: Reddit, Digg, Vimeo, YouTube, Picplz and Flickr. The application is pulling content from these social sites via APIs instead of RSS feeds.

It seems as thought these additions really draw away from the fact that Pulse was a great way of finding quality independent news sources.

“We wanted to experiment with social news, photos and videos — hence, we picked these initial sources. All these services have really neat APIs, and it literally took Charles [new team member Charles Chen] two weeks to get this up and running,” says co-founder Akshay Kothari. “Many more to come — stay tuned!”

TeamViewer developed recently the version 6 for their popular remote access software, they’ve included the mobile version as well and now the Android app is available to download.

TeamViewer is one of the most know applications we can use to access computers remotely, their free version is quite complete and with no complexity for installing nor using it. The mobile versions represent a great tool if we need some quick access to remote machines, that’s why they’ve developed the apps for iPhone, iPad and now Android (beta).

Here are some of the features:

Support your clients and colleagues spontaneously.

Access your office desktop with all of its documents and installed applications.

Remotely administer unattended computers (e.g. servers).

Free for non-commercial use: support family and friends or have remote access to your own computer.

You can download the free app for iPhone, free app for iPad and the Android app (which is fully functional until January 11 of 2011).

The Google OS for mobile devices is the most used operating system in smart phones… yes, even more than iPhone OS. And the market share estimated for the next few years says that this tendency won’t change; so if you were thinking about mobile apps design you better start with Android.

DroidDraw also offers free tutorials to understand this free tool and some nice guidelines and tips.

Prey Project it’s pretty cool software created for users who want an effective way to locate their devices in case they get stolen. Prey can be installed in Windows, Linux, Mac or any device with Android OS, including smartphones.

Prey can notify users about the device location sending a signal over the Internet, or SMS in case of Android phones. The program runs as an agent in background and is completely silent. Here are some of the specs:

Open Source and completely free.

100% geolocation aware. Prey uses either the device’s GPS or the nearest WiFi hotspots to triangulate and grab a fix on its location.

Know your enemy. Take a picture of the thief with your laptop’s webcam so you know what he looks like and where he’s hiding.

No unauthorized Access. Fully lock down your PC, making it unusable unless a specific password is entered.

Wifi auto connect. If enabled, Prey will attempt to hook onto to the nearest open WiFi hotspot when no Internet connection is found.

Watch their movements. Grab a screenshot of the active session.

Scan your hardware. Get a complete list of your PC’s CPU, motherboard, RAM, and BIOS information.

Light as a feather. Prey has very few dependencies and doesn’t even leave a memory footprint until activated.

Keep your data safe. Hide your Outlook or Thunderbird data and optionally remove your stored passwords, so no one will be able to look into your stuff.

Full auto updater. Prey can check its current version and automatically fetch and update itself, so you don’t need to manually reinstall each time.

Google’s Operating System represents, for most of open source lovers, their main hope in a Microsoft world that is now being invaded by Mac; and seems that insiders in Google are saying that Chrome OS will include a Remote Desktop Connection that will provide running locally normal PC applications.

Remote Desktop for most power and/or IT users represents the way of accessing a remote’s computer desktop by reaching it using an IP address; but is more than that. Using Remote Desktop protocol, users can access their applications, installed on a remote computer, without actually installing them locally.

This functionality, without an official announcement by Google, appeared in a Google forum; made by software designer inside the developing of Chrome: “We’re adding new capabilities all the time,” wrote Kačmarčík. “With this functionality (unofficially named ‘chromoting’), Chrome OS will not only be [a] great platform for running modern Web apps, but will also enable you to access legacy PC applications right within the browser.”

For me, almost anything representing legacy or an interoperability support sounds like a good idea; especially in today’s market when some are thinking that by being more restrictive they will win.

What do you think?

China is receiving Apple’s new toy and is expected, as in the rest of the world, that the iPad will be quite a hit there. But Apple will have a ferocious competitor: The iPed.

Oh no, I’m not misspelling, this one is called the iPed. And you can find it in Shenzhen, China available with a cost of U$S100, where also the iPad costs U$S536.

But that’s not all the differences between these two tablets. The iPed contains an Intel chip inside and Google’s operating system Android.

Let’s take a closer look to the product:

The box seems similar?

Wait… what I’m reading there…?

Oh, neither iPod nor iPad… iPed, of course

Mmm… the manual says APad… I’m a little confused now

This would be a great gift to get a friend excited, isn’t?

Since the release of Apple’s new hot gadget, there’s been a tablet fever all around us. And DELL is taking a new step by introducing Streak, a 5” tablet based on Android OS.

Yes, 5” seems a bit small for a tablet; and since you’ll be able to use 3G technology, possibly is going to be the largest phone available in the market as well. Here are some of the specs:

Android platform complete with Android Market and Dell user interface enhancements

1GHz Qualcomm Snagdragon processor

3G + WiFi + Bluetooth

5MP integrated camera.

2GB of internal memory and MicroSD expansion slot (up to 32GB).

Integrated Google Maps with turn-by-turn navigation, street and satellite views.

Flash 10.1 support.

Availability in the UK: Early June.

Availability in the US: Later this summer.

Pricing: To be announced.

The question is, regular users will be interested in having a big smartphone or using a normal phone plus this small tablet?

Cellphones.org made an interesting report about some of the facts about cellphones operating systems.

In this nice and complete picture you’ll get the primary information about some interesting facts about mobile operating systems: Worldwide market share, top smartphone platforms in the US, market share by continent, popularity of mobile OS and App Stores comparisons.

You will probably find some interesting points about these numbers, let’s take a quick look:

Symbian is by far the most popular operating system today, RIM and iPhone following next.

Android is projected to surpass iPhone by 2012 with possibly 14.5% of the market share.
