PayPal is one of the best and most used online banking services online. Being a financial service, this is one of the most widely targeted for Phishing and fraud activities. Phishing attacks are targeted in such a way that the website might have the same look and feel of PayPal and a normal user might find it difficult to identify if it is right one or not.
Steps to protect PayPal account;
Never open a PayPal login from an email as it is one of the most widely used method for phishing attacks
PayPal will never ask for your username and password, so any such request should not be attended to.
If you get an email that may be fraudulent, alert PayPal by forwarding it to spoof@paypal.com.
The best way to access PayPal is to directly opening https://www.paypal.com using your web browser.
If you are using a shared computer, do not save your username and password in the web browser.
So next time you login to PayPal remember these steps. More information on security available here.
I think Gmail is probably one of the best free email services available at the moment. However, sometimes people want to delete their accounts.
The reason that it’s hard to cancel your Gmail account is because when you signed up for your account, you actually got a Google user account, and Gmail was just a piece of it. Yeah, they’re not too clear about that.
Nonetheless, that’s the secret that will help you figure out how to axe your Gmail account.
Steps:
Start out by logging in to your Gmail account and click on Settings:
Once you’re there, go to “Accounts and Import”: Near the bottom of that page is the “Google Account Settings” area. Read what they say:
Notice that there’s no mention of ‘cancel account’ or ‘delete account’ or anything? Yeah, well, that’s where you want to go anyway. Click on the “Google Account Settings” link and you’ll be pushed to the Google Account area
That’s the default setup: Gmail, iGoogle and Web Search history. You can’t click on “Settings” next to the Gmail link, however, because that’ll take you back to where you once were. Instead, click on “Edit” next to My Products…
Now you can finally see what’s going on! The question is: do you want to delete your Gmail account, or do you want to delete the entire account and all Google services? I’m going to assume the latter, though if I’m wrong, you can see what to select here. I click on “Close account and delete all services” and get this long, complicated survey:
You really want to proceed? Check all the boxes, enter your password again and click on “Delete Google Account”, and… done
Canceling your Google account and the Google services you use can be a little difficult at times.
Google maintains a help page that explains the process. The Google user needs to log into the account first, click on Settings > Google Account Settings afterwards and then on the Edit link next to My Products.
This leads to a new page with the option to cancel the Google account completely by clicking on “Close account and delete all services and info associated with it”.
But canceling the complete account is sometimes not the user’s intention. Some users want to cancel a specific Google service, like Gmail or Google Picasa instead.
The steps outlined above to cancel the Google account can also be used to cancel Google services that the user has signed up for.
Both solutions require that the Google user is able to log into the Google account. Users who have troubles doing that can request a password reset if the password that they enter is not accepted in the login.
Here at Crenk we use Twitter on a daily basis and really try to interact with our readers. Yesterday we followed our 2,000 account on Twitter and then I noticed after hitting this milestone that we aren’t able to follow any more users. I wasn’t really too sure why this was happening so I posted a quick message on Twitter asking people why I cant follow any more people, and @richmulholland and @Neil_duckett replied to let me know that Twitter has a 10% rule once you reach 2,000.
Therefore if I want to follow more people on Twitter I need my followers to reach at least 1820 followers. Thus, I need your help! Please follow us on Twitter (http://twitter.com/crenk) and help us spread the word and get other people to follow us also.

There has been lots of news recently about Twitter accounts being hacked from several stars, including Britney Spears. Today there is a new star who has been hacked and he hasnt just lost his Twitter account but also his Gmail and Myspace accounts.
The hackers were responsible for spreading an online rumour – seemingly from Kanye himself – that he was plotting a move into bisexual pr0n movies. “Please I beg you, give me a break!” West wrote on his blog, which appears to be the only arm of his online empire NOT to have been hacked.
Google seems to be making a lot of updates recently in a variety of areas. Last week Google Reader received an update, as well as YouTube videos getting a search tool, but today the change can only be seen when you log in to your Google Account. The change is a basic layout update for everyone’s Google Account.
As you can see from the new design it is a lot cleaner and easier to navigate. Previously, all the items were lined up in a single column down the page, and I for one are really happy they changed it, considering the amount of Google products I use.
Over at gHacks they have a great article about how to create an iTunes U.S. account without a credit card.
Here are the basics from the article!
The first thing you do is to download the iTunes software and install it. Once that is done start it and locate the Redeem link in the top right Quick Links menu.
This will load a page with a form that accepts coupons and gift certificates. All you need to is to paste a coupon code into the form and click on Redeem to send it to iTunes. Coupons can be found here or here.
The iTunes software will throw an error message if the gift certificate or coupon is no longer valid. That however is not a problem at all. Return to the homepage by clicking on the home icon in the upper left corner of the iTunes store.
Once the homepage has loaded it is time to create the account. You can do that by clicking on the Sign In button on the upper right corner of the iTunes store. It offers you login possibilities and a button to create a new account. Click on that button.
Click continue on the welcome page and accept the terms and conditions of the iTunes store in the second. This finally leads to the account creation page.
Enter your details on that page and continue to the next and final step of the account creation.
If everything went well you should now see the page where you can select a payment method and enter the address of the account. The payment method has to offer None as one option for this to work. If that is the case choose none. Now you need to enter an US address in the last step to create the account.
The zip code, state and city have to match. Everything else does not. Just select the location of a friend or relative to be on the safe side but it is practically possible to enter any information you like.
The account will be created in the last step and the contents of the US iTunes store are now available.
This is a simple loophole that is now out in the open. Thanks to JohnChow and Techcrunch for letting everyone know about it. Im not even going to try it out now, cause im sure it will be fixed within 24 hours by Feedburner.
