Windows desktops are indeed one of the most common places where we feel very comfortable, the simplicity and the fact that it did not have significant changes through the years are one of the reasons. But also, among the years, other possibilities appeared with other operating systems, making some interesting tweaks in user’s desktops.

Aximion makes our desktop look really cool, but it could take us a while to get used to it. One of the disadvantages is that the “Start” button is not available, so we must find our applications browsing around.

Requirements to use it:

• Windows XP 32/64 bit, Home/Pro, Service Pack 1/2/3
• DirectX 9.0 installed
• A video card that supports: •DirectX 9.0

Now, it can’t go without saying that Nintendo has released so many iterations of it’s hand held system that many are hesitant to pick up new devices knowing that another is sure to follow. Still, that being said, fanboys are fanboys and the Nintendo 3DS is an experience that many of us are excited to explore.

The Nintendo 3DS will come with a 3-D capable top and bottom 3.5 inch screen, a motion sensor, gyro, an analog nub, and three cameras. The system also has some premier titles attached including Kid Icarus, Mario Kart, Ridge Racer, and Kingdom Hearts. No special glasses are required to play on the system, and Nintendo is confident that the new system will be the future of gaming, at least in the mobile space.

720p is, of course, highly recommended.

Could you imagine this capabilities used in a game? The fact is that is not currently possible, since this test is taking all the processing to generate this video; but I’m pretty sure that it we won’t have to wait much to see this kind of action.

3DMark basically executes some tests to verify the performance of a computer’s 3D graphic rendering and CPU workload processing capabilities. There have been several versions available, and of course is intended for those graphics and gamers enthusiastic that are constantly testing overclocking possibilities to get the highest performance possible.

This video is just an advance from what you can see in a public display during the MSI booth at Computex in Taipei (June 1-5, 2010).

The camera comes in at about 6 lbs, which is heavier than perhaps some expect, but the camera does pack quite the punch with the quality and capabilities offered. The camera will record in sync to two SDHC memory cards and automatic left/right-eye deviation correction. “The lenses, camera head and recorder section are integrated into a compact body. Unlike a conventional rig-type 3D camera system, this model brings excellent flexibility and mobility to FULL HD 3D recording,” according to Panasonic’s site.

Last year, I reported that the 3D home entertainment trend was on the up. Recession or no recession, it’s coming. The latest development in this tantalising three dimensional tale is the release of HDMI 3D glasses for use at home with a 3D TV.

Whether you’re a fan of wearing weird glasses while watching TV or not, you’re going to be happy with this next piece of new: there isn’t going to be much bickering between the companies about format issues. When almost any new development is made in the tech industry, each company almost always seems to choose its own format. That way, they hop to gain loyalty and crush the others. One wins, a lot loose. And of course eventually we’re left with one format. This time though, they;re doing things differently. They’ll all be going with the active shutter glasses which you can see in the picture.

The ones above are geared up for HDMI 1.4 and will be compatible with future updates to HDMI technology. So 3D is coming, prepare to be either dazzled or extremely annoyed.

Toshiba have just announced the arrival of their new TV – what must be the most powerful TV in the universe. It’s called the Cell TV and is available in 55 or 65 inch versions. Don’t it look good?

Well it’s the insides that I’m more concerned about. They have crammed in multiple eight-core processors which all combine to make it more powerful than ten average desktop computers and 143 times faster than rival televisions. Impressive right? Toshiba think so too.

The possibilities of what we can do are really endless,” said Scott Ramirez, vice president of marketing for Toshiba’s TV group, during a press conference.

The TV is also connected to the internet via WiFi or an Ethernet cable allowing content to be downloaded and streamed. You can also browse the net and hold video calls by using the inbuilt video camera and microphone.

2010 has been dubbed the year of 3D TV, well this TV has a processor which makes normal TV ‘jump’ out of the screen at you. This includes things like football which was thought too complex and fast-paced to be made 3D just a few years ago.

This TV will go down in the history books as a turning point in home entertainment, home computing and technology in general.
