Sony Launch MPlay: Their Online Music Store and iTunes Competitor

A couple of days ago we reported that Sony announced their iTunes competitor to the world. Now it has launched!

Sony has purchased MyPlay which seems to have become an entertainment portal featuring videos and pics from the leading Sony artists. Additionally, the have soft launched the MyPlay Store which is located as a sub-domain and doesnt seem to fully integrated yet with the main site.

This effort from Sony to launch an iTunes competitor is just stupid. Sony will only have limited content in the store and network, so why would I close my iTunes account to save a few dollars on an album download from MyPlay. I know that the service has some great potential with regards to integration into the Playstation, but I just cant see Sony getting it right!

Whats your thoughts?
