RCDLBL.com is Nothing New!
![]()
There has been a bit of talk this week about Downtown Records and Engadget co-founder Peter Rojas starting their own Music Blog/Record Label/Music Provider etc.
After looking at RCRDLBL.com for the last few days, there is just nothing new or worthwhile about the site. The site is basically focused around a blog which talks about new bands and gives them a bit of a plug. Additionally, they offer free mp3s from the bands which will be supported by advertising revenue from the site. What is ground breaking about this idea. It is mainly Downtown Records providing their A&R hence their artists will receive benefits. I just dont get it!
I really do think this idea has only come about and actually received some coverage because Rojas is running the site. Thats all! Soon I think he will find out his idea was a poor one and will not really get him anywhere, but will require a fair amount of time. Techcrunch should be expecting to add this one to the deadpool in about 8 – 12 months.
Finally, Digital Music News, what the hell is conceptually compelling about this model? Care to tell me!

Exactly. There’s nothing special, and that’s how it always goes when someone with a recognized name does something, however plain it is.
It’s kind of disappointing because there are so many cool sites popping up in the music industry that deserve the attention (but don’t get it.)
Rojas, I think you should really stick to what you do best and that is write tech based weblogs.
i think it has more to do with search engine optimization
