MySpace Responsible for Killing imeem

imeem-logoImeem fans the world over were befuddled when one day their third party apps did not work. A run to imeem’s website produced the same results. There was nothing, nada, zilch, zero, just up and gone in the night.

Thanks to the purchase by MySpace, imeem was a short lived program that never quite got its stride, and when it was starting to gain in popularity it was bought out and axed by MySpace. Specifically the third party developers were sent scrambling to recover their business models when the axe fell. MySpace gave no warning, there was no expectation or nice letter saying that it was dropping immediate support until a later time, it just simply pulled the plug.

Developers are upset, but focused more on trying to adapt. The imeem website now takes me to a MySpace page where the official word is that they are looking at importing everything over. Seems a little late for me, and rather then a seamless transfer, the imeem community was shaken and was not endeared to MySpace.

So with imeem’s API down, all apps associated are down too. My imeem app on my iPhone still spins endlessly looking for a place to connect, and that’s what users will see until something changes. If MySpace really wanted to kill the vibrant community of over 1.5 million people, congrats you did it. If they plan to revive the service I wouldn’t count on a whole lot of those 1.5 million people to come running back, MySpace didn’t make a very good first impression.

I am so upset. All my muisc was on Imeem, including my photos. Damn it. I like myspace karaoke, but myspace need to figure out something soon to revived my data on imeem. It sounds so unfair when myspace bought imeem, it seems all that i built and my sweat is wasted.

I mean amoung all service on my space, my space music is my favorite vs its other application or feature. I like myspace ilike feature too. And welcome the purchase, but if i can voice one request is to please don’t loss any of my DATA in imeem.
