My Top 20 Technology Related Blogs of 2008, Whats Yours?
We are heading towards the end of 2008 and I thought I would put together a list of the top 20 technology blogs I have read and subscribe too for 2008. This list is pretty much straight from my Google Reader list and if you know of any blogs I should subscribe to for 2009, please drop me a comment below to let me know.
Techcrunch has to be the most dominant technology blog in the industry at the moment. It was founded by Michael Arrington and if you haven’t heard of this site, then I will be surprised. Arrington has to be one of the most arrogant guys in technology today, but man does this guy enjoy winning, and that is the main reason why his site is so dominant.
Mashable used to be just a blog covering all the news from the major social networks, but over time it has developed into one of the leading players in the Web 2.0 News space. Lately, the site seems to cover a lot more technology news and analysis than ever before, bit with over 10 authors it is a great source for getting various opinions.
TheNextWeb is the European technology blog of choice for me, apart from Crenk of course. TheNextWeb talk about the happenings from all over the technology industry with a specific focus on Europe and the Netherlands in particular.TheNextWeb also hold a tech conference in Amsterdam every year that is just simply brilliant.

These days Richard has hired some of the best technology writers from around the globe and this has proven to be a huge asset forReadWriteWeb.

TorrentFreak has to be my favourite blog at the moment. TorrentFreak reports about everything within the turbulant world of bittorrents and p2p startups. TorrentFreak only reports about scoops which means they are always on the home page of Digg, Mixx, and Reddit.
Profy is a technology news and analysis site that is starting to come into its own. Previously Profy tried to launch as a blogging platform, but I always thought they actually were more useful as a technology analysis site than a blogging platform.Svetlana is the editor over at Profy and she has been knocking out some great working over the last year.
Startupmeme is one of the newest technology news sites in the space. Startupmeme isnt nescessarily the first source to report technology news, but they seem to write about everything within the space. Since they have a quickly movingRSS feed it is a great source for a quick snapshot to what is happening in the tech industry.
Hypebot is a digital music blog that has close ties within the industry. Hypebot has been on the Cnet top 100 blogs previously and is still growing in 2008. The site itself does need a bit of a makeover, but the content is very fresh, unique and very well researched.
DigitalMusicNews is written by Paul Resnikoff and has to be one of the most well connected guys within the digital music industry. I love http://www.scommerce.com and not just because I edit it ha haha
Nice list, but similar to everyone’s else’s top 20 list, surely? I’d like to see a list of great tech sites that are still B-list but on the rise…anyone?
Additionally, on the rise I would have to add:
http://www.crenk.com
http://www.webappers.com
http://www.sixrevisions.com
Wow! That is a really good list. I already have subscribed to a lot of these but there are a few that I didn’t know about.
Although Techrunch is good, I don’t really like to follow that blog a lot because of all the financial analysis they have on their blog. Other than that all the sites are great especially Mashable and Lifehacker.
Thanks for the list.
Varun,

Thanks for including CN in your list and for your compliment about the content!
Appreciate your comments regarding louisgray.com. This is quite the list to be included in! Apologize for arriving to this late, as I just saw it. Hope we can make the 2009 list as well!
What about bloggingtips[dot]com?
How many authors does it have? I guess 10 and infinite number of contributors.
