My Predictions for 2008
1. There will be a massive consolidation of ad networks.
2. Online video advertising will continue to grow immensely.
3. A major Silicon Valley publicly traded company will go private.
4. I expect to see a slew of solar companies go public.
5. A major blog will be acquired by a publicly traded company.

I think you are right with the first one for sure. The bigger companies will start snapping up all the smaller ones.

Whilst consolidation is welcome, I still hate to that the market will be dominated by Google, Yahoo, MSN and Ads.com.
These guys aren’t doing a fantastic job showing us ads that we want to click on. Granted, they show us a lot of ads, especially Google, but I think this may be part of the problem.
What the ad industry needs is another Google-like tech company to come in and revolutionize the way ads work. There hasn’t been any major revolution since Google’s text ad resurgence.

I think the ad network consolidation has already finished. Google has purchased, AOL has purchased a few, WPP has purchased a lot more and Yahoo also. So there arent too many major players still going to purchase.
