Mashable Is Not Selling to AOL! Mashable is in Advertising Talks with AOL
There has been a lot of reports in the last few days about Mashable (the world’s most popular tech blog) selling out to AOL. These reports have since been squashed by Mashable CEO Pete Cashmore. However, Mashable was talking to AOL about something and this something was CPM based advertising. AOL are one of the leaders for CPM display advertising and Mashable’s main revenue stream is CPM display advertising.
Here at Crenk and other sites that we own, we have noticed that CPM advertising has decreased in the last 6 months and when advertising decreases times are tough in terms of content creation and staying profitable. Mashable is probably the most profitable technology blog in the world. Pete and his team focusing on trying to stay ahead of the advertising curve by playing advertising network rates off each other. This provides healthy competition and brings in top CPM rates for Mashable.
Mashable is talking to AOL about and advertising partnership! From our experience with AOL they mostly provided remnant advertising solutions to sites they dont own. However, Im sure Mashable is trying to broker a special deal!
