Apple’s has more news for us, and they are going to make it official this Wednesday, September 9 at San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. So, what’s going to be? New versions for iPod Touch with cameras included (maybe including iPod nano) and new features for iTunes.
There are a lot of rumors, which unfortunately are only that, just rumors. Marco Arment made a few guesses around all those and here’s a quick review about what he said:
New iPod touch version with the following features: camera, double the storage capacities, and new pricing: 8 GB for u$s149, 16 GB for u$s199, 32 GB for u$s249, 64 GB for u$s349.
New iPod nano version with camera. But they will offer only one model: 8gb for u$s99
iPod classic out of the market.
New pricing for the iPod shuffle: u$s59.
You want more? iTunes will include new social network features; and this event will possibly have a special guest: Steve Jobs.
Yes, I didn’t mention anything about the Apple Tablet. Seems that there’s not going to be any announce around that, and they could possibly wait until next year to say something official about it.
There has been a lot of talk recently about the new PS3Slim, but we have just come across a completely new design from Tai Chiem, this 3D model will surely make all the gizmo freaks drooling spit all over the place.
From the basic images it seems as thought the designer believes that the next PS4 will have an OLED screen.

Nokia has announced at the Nokia World conference in Stuttgart that they will be releasing a new mobile handset called the Nokia X6. The Nokia X6 is sure to turn a lot of heads with its stunningly beautiful design, but it also has a lot of features that could make it the phone of choice for the trendy teen this year.
The Nokia X6 seems to be the successor to the music orientated Nokia 5800, however it also has a 3.2 capacitive touchscreen, 5 megapixel camera, 32GB of storage, and 35 hours of music playback.
“With direct access to Ovi Store, the Nokia X6 is a hive of activity that brings 20 friends and virtual communities, like Facebook, to your homescreen.”
Nokia has also introduced a new social friendly feature called Lifecasting with Ovi; it lets you publish your location and status updates directly to Facebook from the home screen of the phone:
“Lifecasting goes beyond just publishing your status – it is about building deeper and closer connections between people. It triggers new kinds of communication patterns, such as sending messages or status updates or even navigating to a friend or a place. Lifecasting will premiere on the new Nokia N97 mini, companion to the successful Nokia N97.”
It took them a while, but Nokia has finally caught up to the fact that having a feature-packed phone is only half of the equation. Giving your users access to content and enabling them to connect and share with others is equally important, and their latest lineup delivers the goods. Read the full press release here.
The iTunes app store is reportedly worth $2.5 billion and this is bringing more and more developers to the platform. If your a develop the first thing you do is sit down and sketch out your idea.
Introducing the iPhone Design Template Sketchbook:
MIT engineers have developed a cheap, compact robotic fish that can go where no man (or underwater vehicle) has been able to go before. The pint-sized robofish, developed by Kamal Youcuf-Toumi and Pablo Valdivia y Alvarado, could potentially be used to detect underwater environmental pollutants and inspect submerged boats and oil and gas pipes. Another plus is that they don’t smell.
There is a new urban mobility vehicle in the market (if that really is a market anymore) that competes directly with the Segway, its called the Orbis. The Orbis is a compact electric vehicle that is aimed at reducing congestion, pollution and parking requirements.
The Orbis is a one-wheeled, self-balancing vehicle, thanks to the technology guided by gyroscopes, which generates power from an internal hub motor and lithium ion battery and helps in improving the surroundings.
The Orbis features an aluminum body, it is capable of reaching 22km/hr and only weights 25lbs. The wheel cannot be compromised in any way, therefore other components of the vehicle take a form that confirms to the wheel’s shape. When not in use, the Orbis folds in a compact size so you may carry it effortlessly inside your place.
We reported yesterday that Nokia was going to enter the netbook market and today it is official. The Finnish mobile giant has up until now only been involved in the mobile handset market, but now here are the specifications on their new Booklet 3G.
This is key because Nokia are the largest manufacturer of mobile phones in the world and when entering the netbook market they have tried to producing an amazing product and before Apple and others enter the market.
What are its specifications telling us? Well, it’s definitely big on connectivity: it’s got Bluetooth, WiFi, 3G and a SIM card slot, which makes it a netbook with all the connectivity options of a mobile phone. It has an integrated GPS plus a copy of Ovi Maps, which is also different from most laptops. The rest of its features are, well…netbooky, albeit nearer to the high-end of the specter: an Intel Atom processor, Windows 7, 10.1 inch screen, and all that encased in a 0.78 inch aluminum body.
Im now very interested to see what Apple bring to the netbook market in the coming month or so.
Nokia has always been a company to diversify. They started out as a logging company for god’s sake and now they’re making the worlds greatest smart phones. Now, company bosses have confirmed that Nokia is currently looking into the netbook market to see if they can get a slice of the action.
The Nokia CEO said “the PC and the mobile will continue to come closer and merge.”
NetBooks are becoming increasingly popular over the past few years. People need more mobility than ever. When their smart phone doesn’t quite pack the punch they need they can take out their thin 11” netbook.
A netbook from Nokia might not be such a bad idea. I would imagine it would run windows XP given the limited computing power available on netbooks. If they were to release one, their very image as a mobile phone company would certainly rub off on a small, portable netbook.
However, I wouldn’t get my hopes up just yet until we hear back from Nokia. Many times companies have announced plans that have never bore fruit.
As we’ve been discussing it before, it is finally official, Sony is releasing in this September, the new Play Station 3 console model. Confirming that this is a slim one, including a price cut and with an internal HD 120gb. Not bad uh?
Here are the facts so far about the new PS3:
Available in the first week of september (yes! just a few days more).
120gb internal hard drive.
22% smaller and around 36% lighter.
New refrigeration system. Apparently won’t over heat all that much as the earlier versions.
The processor still is a 45nm Cell model but consumes less energy. Current PS3 owners will know that this is an important feature.
New feature “BRAVIA Sync”. If you also are the owner of a Sony BRAVIA TV you will be able to control the XrossMediaVar using your PS3. Also the sandby feature will let you turn off the console automatically when the TV turns off.
Here are some comparison photos with the previous models:
Ranging from the smallest to the largest or “omni” (18lbs) to “Gigantor” (that way around 50kilos), Sumolounge are the first people to come up with bean bags that you can actually use as furniture
Huge floppy bean bags bring a smile to everyone’s faces. The world needs more of this sort of thing. But sumolounge have somehow managed to take this to another level. These are serious bean bags, but in a good way. Much in the same way that you can have some of your son’s ice-cream at the beach but he can’t have any of your beer “because this is daddy’s special lemonade”. The price is to high to make them a fun memento in the corner of your room. Every office in the country that enjoys a relaxed laddish atmosphere should have one. Having been sent some as promo’s nothing has made us smile more and it’s gonna take something quite original to beat it. Not a day goes by when we don’t take a quick five minutes to bury each other or jump of a table and pretend were wrestlers of the top ropes, you could centre an entire repertoire of office Olympics around them, especially the Gigantor size.
Sumolounge.com offers a wide range of relaxing beanbags that are as durable as they are versatile in appealing to all ages. As well as moderately priced for something that on-one else in the world offers. Sumolounge bean bags come with a guarantee that they will never go flat, have covers that are machine washable and come in a variety of loud or subtle colours.
At this stage I’m getting fed up. Every day I open my inbox there are a dozen e-mails from colleagues and readers of the
various publications I write for including Crenk asking about the news or a new product. There’s always at least one talking about the supposed upcoming Mac Tablet.
‘What do you reckon will be included?’, they ask.
Honestly, I’m nowhere near 100% certain. Obviously you’d have a touch screen QWERTY keyboard, media centre of some sort and maybe even fingerprint recognition (I believe Apple have patented that idea).
In truth, only the bigwigs at Apple could tell us. And even then they would probably just numb our brains with pre-release jargon so we all buzz around the internet still asking ‘Ohh, what could it be?!’
My reason for writing this post is clear and simple. I want to know what you would like in a Mac tablet. Send us in your thoughts, opinions and ravings here at Crenk. Either leave a comment below of tell us on the Crenk Twitter.
They could be about anything – ‘when will it be released?’, ‘what features will it have?’, ‘how much will it cost?’, ‘what will it look like?’ and so on. I look forward to reading your replies.
