Recently Taptu announced the immediate release of their own iPhone app. The Taptu iPhone application claims to improve search on the iPhone with an easy-to-use interface and iPhone-friendly search results.
Performing a search on an iPhone can be a frustrating task, as the results are the same as those received on a desktop search and may not be viewable on a phone, for example a Web site running on Flash. Additionally, results are provided in long lists and multiple pages. Taptu only shows you search results that are made for the iPhone.
As well as only providing iPhone friendly results the Taptu app has the ability to search multiple platforms, share results, and more.
It’s come often during my late night work sessions that energy drinks just don’t do it, and soda is just overdone, not to mention sludge for the body. After a long time of coding, designing, writing, or developing, I just want to take a break, relax and kick my feet up to some good tunes, or a good movie. Nothing scratches that itch better than a good glass of wine.
I’m by no means a wine expert, so I can either fumble my way through wines I will mostly not like, or I can turn to the experts of Hello Vino and adapt my tastes, my menu, or my event to the wines that will make it a success. Hello Vino has added a mobile app that has helped me select a wine on the go while I’m shopping for an evening with friends or just with my wife. The application does a great job of pairing wines, giving you reviews, and pricing it for you to find exactly what you need on so many levels.
The database consists of over 1 million unique wines, all of which will surely find their fan base on the go always on the hunt for the perfect wine.

The National Gallery is the first ever gallery to make its paintings accessible through a downloadable iPhone application, making it possible to take a mini tour of the Gallery anywhere in the world.
The Gallery has partnered with Antenna Audio and Apple Inc. in which they have designed a new application for iPhones and iTouch devices that enables people to explore a sample of the collection while they’re on the move. Designed to appeal to art enthusiasts and fans of the Gallery, this application is the first of its kind to be released by a major gallery.
The application features 250 paintings from the collection along with around 200 minutes of audio and video content, including interviews with National Gallery Director Dr Nicholas Penny, dramatist Robin Brooks, artist Maggie Hambling and Girl with a Pearl Earring author Tracy Chevalier.
The iPhone app also boasts twelve thematic ‘galleries’, in which users can explore a greater selection of paintings grouped by popular themes or types such as portraits, cityscapes and religious paintings. The application sits alongside the Gallery’s other audio content including its audio tours and popular monthly podcast series.

Windows Live Writer team is working on developing the Mobile Version of Live Writer, maybe the best integration tool for blogs. This is a beta version that works only on Windows Mobile 6 or superior, it is very stable even though for a beta (remember that the Desktop Live Writer version worked as a public beta for a long time). You can participate from this beta (testing, sending feedback, etc) downloading it from this link in codeplex.
Here are some snapshots from the developer team, showing also the language compatibility.
In deed this is a fine choice for all bloggers that are constantly trying to post about anything from everywhere.
The funny thing is that Twitter was born on a similar idea, showing your status and what you are doing in real time; well I guess this could help those twitter lovers to use their blogs as updated as they can.
A few days ago we wrote a quick article about the release of the video for the new Spotify Android App. Today we thought we would post about the other Spotify app that hasnt been talked about so much and that is the iPhone Spotify application.
Below is a quick video of the application in action. Enjoy!
Spotify is a music startup that has had a huge amount of press of late. Today Techcrunch and a few other sites have been talking about the Spotify application for Android and providing some screenshots of the service. However, we have now found a video that actually shows the application in action. So take a look and let us know what you think.
It’s likely that a lot of us have moved towards cloud computing for storage of our files.
Documents, spreadsheets, powerpoint presentations, a lot of these creations are now held in applications like Google Documents, Zoho Writer, or even placed in an application like Drop Box. This transition has left a great many of our thumb drives collecting dust on our desks, or lost in a drawer.
Portable Apps is just one way to bring life to your thumb drive, especially if you like your applications set up a certain way and you’re moving from computer to computer throughout your day. Portable Apps allows you to bring applications such as video viewers, word applications, browsers set up to your liking with your bookmarks, games, and other productivity applications that you may want to carry with you as opposed to having to start from the ground up as you change computers.
Portable virus scanners, portable zip applications, portable image editing software, and even portable coding applications allow a user to increase their productivity as a professional without the fear of downloading software onto another computer, especially if it’s forbidden in areas such as your work computer or a library setting.
Portable Apps promotes itself as “Convenient, Open, and Free.” Your entire life can be portable and your experience can remain the same no matter what computer you are on. Give it a try, dust those thumb drives off and never worry if a computer has the applications you need or if there is a compatibility issue.
Nokia’s much avaited application showcase the Ovi Store was launched today. The store contains both free and paid applications – “a mountain of mobile content” according to the the Nokia Conversations blog. The Ovi store is compatible with more than 50 Nokia devices, which the company believes gives them access to 50 million people.
Given the dominance of Nokia the Ovi store would be expected to have many more eyeballs than the iPhone App store, but at the moment their app section doesnt really seem upto scratch. I tried to download a new application but unfortunately the application was unavailable. The Ovi app section might not be fully operational with old Nokia handsets and thus they are waiting for replacement of handsets.
There are 1236 apps in all at the Ovi store, and navigation is, quite frankly, painful. The site is taking too long to load, perhaps unable to handle the first day traffic. Im quite surprised that Nokia released something that was this bad, but I kind of understand that they need to be in this market sooner rather than later even if they do have an inferior product.
A majority of the content available at the App store is paid, with one a few free applications. Paid content includes ringtones, mobile apps, games etc.
Overall the Ovi Store is very disappointing and I was expecting a lot more from Nokia. Im sure however with their resources and popularity over time they will get this right and will really challenge apple in terms of customers usability.
If you are currently using a smartphone and running Windows Mobile 6 or higher, then it is time to head over to MyPhone. MyPhone is Microsoft’s new OTA backup system and it is now open in beta. You receive 200MB worth of free storage, which doesn’t seem like a lot, but it should be fine for emails, contact and calendars.
If your phone is already synced with an Exchange server then MyPhone isnt going to be able to work for you. Unlike most Microsoft products the price is free so why not head over and test it out!
