It seems like TalkTalk have been told to put a ban on the sites, but didnt really know how they could ban the sites legally. You might be losing a lot of customers after this TalkTalk!

Nerrot is a simple bit torrent searcher that finds the torrent you are looking for. Nerrot is like a Google I’m feeling lucky search. You simply type in the name of what you are looking for and it will popup a download almost instantly. Nerrot though does not have any other features so it is pretty simple as you can see from the above screen shot. Also although the searches are most of the time rite there is no way of detecting if a torrent is fake because there are no comments. I recommend this to people who are just looking to download torrent really quick.

BitLet is an online torrent client that downloads the torrents for you without any torrent client. BitLet runs in java so there is no extra installing needed. This is also good if you don’t want to install a torrent client on your computer. Also it supports video streaming so you can download a torrent that is a video and have it stream. They also support streaming for music too.BitLet supports changing the port and even the upload rate. They also have a bookmarklet for Firefox and IE that allows you to download the torrent without having to go to the BitLet page. BitLet also has cool features like resume downloading, using a local or online torrent, and allows you to download more than one torrent at a time. They also show you your upload and download speed and even how many seeders and leachers. Most of the time the torrents will work but not always. I would recommend this to users who rarely download torrents and also to people who need to download a torrent but don’t have the time or want to install a client.. If you download torrents often then i would stick with whatever client you have.

KickassTorrents has been feeling the heat recently.
The Digital Music Report is out and it claims that 95% of all digitial music downloads are illegal. Bittorrent is still on the rise, but it seems like adoption of digital music services is growing and more music is being consumed now than ever before.

CD sales are still on the rapid decline and sales of downloaded music rose by 6% to 4.6 billion U.S. dollars (3.4bn euros). Meanwhile, nearly a third of the total turnover for record companies comes from digital business.

Here at Crenk we have mentioned Apple’s launch of Mac OS X Lion many times. Now we have noticed that Mac OS X Lion is available across a load of torrent sites.

It has been noted that an installed version of Lion will ‘phone home’ to Apple. Im sure this might even quickly lead to Apple sending out the control squad on your ass. Developers can get the Mac OS X Lion preview now and it only costs $99. Is it really worth pirating the software over $99?

It seems like the music industry is sueing isoHunt for million.

Michael Geist sez,

As the debate over Canada’s copyright reform legislation, Bill C-32,continues to rage before a legislative committee, one of the most frequently heard claims is that tough reforms are needed to counter Canada’s reputation as a “piracy haven”. The presence of several well-known BitTorrent sites, most notably B.C.-based isoHunt, is cited as evidence for Canada’s supposedly lax laws that the industry says leaves it powerless. When the bill was first introduced last June, the Canadian Recording Industry Association stated that “stronger rules are also needed to rein in Canadian-based peer-to-peer websites, which, according to IFPI,have become ‘a major source of the world’s piracy problem’.”

Politicians have taken note of the concerns. Industry Minister Tony Clement said the new bill will target “wealth destroyers” and Liberal MP Dan McTeague has lamented that “the very existence of an isoHunt in Canada is problematic and is very much the result of what appears to be a legislative holiday for companies and other BitTorrent sites.”

While the notion of a “legislative holiday” appears to be the impetus for some of the provisions on Bill C-32, what is left unsaid – and thus far unreported – is that 26 of the world’s largest recording companies launched a multi-million dollar lawsuit against isoHunt using existing Canadian copyright law just three weeks before the introduction of the bill.

Although the impact of this decision does not currently affect full search results, it does send out a strong signal that Google is willing to censor its services proactively, and to an extent that is far greater than many expected.

Among the list of forbidden keywords are “uTorrent”, a hugely popular piece of entirely legal software and “BitTorrent”, a file transfer protocol and the name of San Fransisco based company BitTorrent Inc. As of today, these keywords will no longer be suggested by Google when you type in the first letter, nor will they show up in Google Instant.

One of the most asked question among BitTorrent users, specially the newbie ones, is “Which client should I use?” and a recent report (made by TorrentFreak) took two of the most famous clients, uTorrent and Vuze (Azureus); giving uTorrent a +16% difference regarding speed capabilities.

The BitTorrent protocol made a significant change in the Web area we live in, and today is the most important P2P protocol available. That’s why the associated clients have always been as different as they can be to prove users that each one always offers better speed, usability, scalability etc.

The study took and measured the speed of 10 million users over one month, and the results giving uTorrent defeating Vuze, also evaluates the possible reasons of why this is happening. Two of the main differences between these clients are: How they manage their neighborhood and how they distribute their upload capacity to their peers.

If it exists on someone’s hard drive, then there’s a torrent for it. That seem to be the one of the main truths regarding torrent downloads. And that is the case for Windows 7 SP1, which can be found on torrent sites to download.

There are no official dates for the release of this Service Pack, and there is no much information about it, but let’s take a closer look.

The SP1 will also be released for Windows Server 2008 R2. After all, those two have the same kernel installed.

Will include, of course, minor updates for the operating system but no so much of new features (maybe for SP2?).

New version of the Remote Desktop client designed to work with RemoteFX (new remote access platform to be included in Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1).

Dynamic Memory feature. This will let you to add memory to a virtual machine on the fly, instead of shutting it down.

Supporting USB 3.0?

There are some screenshots available as well.

Even though there’s no official date of the release, the impact among Windows 7 to the public have been amazing; so thinking about waiting for a Service Pack does not change the idea for most organization for migrating now their platform to Windows 7.

Around 50% of Windows organizations are considering to migrate now to Windows 7 and not to wait for SP1. This behavior did not occur with Windows Vista.

BitSnoop is a new torrent search engine that is supposedly better than its rivals because of a new tactic it uses when searching for torrents; indexing and combining of torrents and getting rid of duplicated ones. The torrents are generated by Tracker Match. It locates all the relevant trackers to your search and removes duplicated torrents or ‘bad’ torrents to avoid slow downloads.

I think that the homepage which you can see above is quite nice as it’s minimalistic – after all it’s there for one purpose and one purpose only. Google has had much by employing the purposeful look by using minimal text and images. The results, seen below, are also well presented and spaced out; again a minimalistic look.

Overall, I thought it was okay. I didn’t really notice much of a change in my regular download speed but the fact that it was taking away duplicated torrents was comforting, I guess. Check it out for yourself here.

The case was made against the sites three founders who were not even present, nor aware of the proceedings. When they found they sent a letter to have the ruling dismissed as they are currently seeking to make an appeal.

As it stands, if they do not comply with the ruling and remove all access to the site in Holland

within the next ten days then the company will be fined three million Euros. They will also be fined 30,000 Euro for

every day that the site remains up and running in the Netherlands.

In April, the three owners, Fredrik Neij, Peter Sunde, and Gottfrid Svartholm Warg along with a financer in Sweden were ordered to pay around 3 million in damages to various production companies and were to serve a year behind bars. Currently, a company called Global Gaming Factory has plans to buy Pirate Bay, which is only adding to the pandemonium.

Similar to services already available such as MegaVideo, only now you have the added functionality of a media player, library and subscription services for podcasts and specific genres.

You download Vuze here (less than 10Mb) and install it in under five minutes. No need to restart your PC or do any complicated set up, so already it was in my good books. Upon opening the program for the first time I was greeted by a fairly simple interface that the average computer user could navigate. Search Bar, Library, Current Downloads and even a helpful ‘Getting Started’ section to guide you through the stages (although you really shouldn’t need it).

One thing that caught my eye was HD. Lucky for me, my new laptop was indeed HD compatible so I decided to search for a HD clip. I typed in ‘Public Enemies’ into the search bar and up popped a load of results. I could either watch the whole movie or simply a trailer. The HD quality was outstanding which surprised me as the download took less than a minute. Sound and playback quality was also top notch. No jumpy movies like you get with browser players.

Another section is ‘Devices’. Now, Vuze is fully compatible with a host of portable devices such as your iPod, iPhone, laptop, and other portables. It also works a treat on the PS3 and XBOX 360.

If you’re a videographer you can also publish your content on the Vuze network. This is great for publicizing your stuff to a large audience and also for Podcasts looking to branch out. It’s really easy to upload etc.. There are also special packages available for those uploading load of content to give them priority and good exposure on the Vuze Network.

One area I think that Vuze could improve is with the extra content. There should be a minimal browser built in to allow you to view the community pages without having to kick-start Firefox. This would give it a seamless affect and just be handy in general.

All things considered however, this is a spectacular piece of software and one I’ll be using a lot from now on. I think web based video torrents are having their final farewells. 9/10
