Australian Government Push Forward with National Broadband Network via $11 Billion Telstra Purchase

The Australian Government are really trying to grow the technology industry from the ground up. Recently the Government announced that they would be purchasing the entire copper cable network of Telstra for $11 billion. This acquisition was required for their $43 billion national broadband project.

The Australian Government can now move forward with their plans of offering 100Mbps National Broadband Network to everyone in the country.

The move also makes Telstra a smaller player in the landline market, however they have announced “written confirmation from the Prime Minister” to bid on a part of the countries hard to obtain LTE spectrum which should extend their reach in the wireless market.
