New User Interface and Logo for Ubuntu 10.4
Ubuntu is launching a completely new look with Ubuntu 10.4, codenamed Lucid Lynx. Everything will be brand new; the logo, the user interface, and the color scheme (no more brown). It’s set to be released on April 29, less than a month away.
It’s already the most popular desktop Linux distribution, but will this new look, this new branding, make it easier for Ubuntu to cast its net even wider and grow the Linux user base as a whole?
The new look
The new Ubuntu will have a much more stylish design which seems to have influences from both Microsoft and Apple. According to Ubuntu’s branding page, the overall design theme from 2004-2010 was “human”, while the new version uses “light” as its overall theme.

I like both these changes.
I hope they have solved the Intel video regression issues when the version 10.4 will be released…
so when looking at the screenshot, “light” means darker?
Looks a lot like OSX..
Thank heavens for that! I was worried they were never going to drop that baby-poo brown default background. The Lynx is looking very nice indeed. Are they opting for left side window controls too? (save me heaps of time changing all my converts PCs setting in gconf-editor)
I like the old logo better. There was nothing wrong with it, abd by now it was well recognized.
