CTRUS Football Concept with Built In GPS and RFID Tracking

Football is one the most popular sport in the world, so in anticipation of the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2010, design firm AGENT came up with a unique concept for the game’s ball equipment. The CTRUS concept ball would be embedded with GPS and RFID tracking, allowing game officials to more accurately judge games.

The most interesting part of the new tech-enhanced ball would be its transparent, somewhat skeletal looks.

I’ve been saying that they need to do this in American Football for years. The spot of the ball after a play has one of the biggest effects on the outcome of the game. Games have been won and lost based on bad spottings. Imagine all the other sports that this could be used for. It’s about time!!!

I also think they should have wireless heart monitors hooked up to players. Think about how cool it would be to have a little heart rate monitor on the screen right as a goalie prepares for a penalty kick or a forward makes a great move. Plus, it would be great to keep track of the health of a player. There’s been way too many athlete’s die of unknown heart conditions.
