iFreeTablet Arriving from Spain
EATCO Group from the Universidad de Cordoba, Spain; has several years researching about this project and now, on February 4th, they’ll have their most important milestone: Presenting the iFreeTablet to the world, as another iPad competitor.

Open source community (very significant in Spain) never liked the whole idea of what companies like Microsoft, Apple (and even Google) has to offer to the people; most of them trust in what the community and only the community can develop. And here’s an important achievement, which may or not may reach millions of users, but an important achievement at last.
Here are some of the specs of the iFreeTablet:
- 10.2” display with a 1024×600 resolution.
- Atom N270 1.6 GHz processor.
- Weight: Around 1Kg.
- 160GB hard drive.
- WiFi and Ethernet adapter.
- 3 USB ports.
- VGA output.
- Memory card reader.
- 1.3mb webcam.
- 2.5hrs battery autonomy.
Operating system? Open source of course, named SIeSTA, an operating system developed by the university that is based in Linux distribution Debian.
The pricing will be around €300-400 (considering that the iPad will be presented in Europe around €600).
If you take a look about the quick specs we’ve made about the iPad and the cons that we’ve found, you will probably think like this is actually could be a better option than the Apple tablet version.

Surely you jest! 600 euros for what is basically a retarded netbook!!!! :-0
This would have to be halved imo to stand any serious chance of success
