DX3: A New Electronic Dictionary and Media Player

DX3 Ask any traveller their main challenge when cruising the Caribbean, biking in Thailand or spending a cold winter in Berlin their number one problem and their answer will be “the language”. Asking for a loaf of bread or where the toilets are is difficult when you’re a non native. Carrying an old fashioned, bulky paper dictionary won’t exactly help when you’re looking up several words for five minutes just to order a pizza. The DX3 could be the perfect solution.

It has a full colour touch-screen and enables you to enter a word in English and get it back in the chosen language (including English, French, German and Spanish). Furthermore, you can ask the device to play you a voice clip of the word in the native tongue so you’ll know how to say it.

It also functions as a media player for when you’re on long plane or bus journeys. Sure, it’s not exactly up there with your standard, hi-tech media players but it has a 1Gb flash drive, 128MB of memory and a ARM926 processor – that’s enough for a few episodes of Family Guy.
