Bad Driving 2.0 Style

There’s nothing like ranting online when you’ve had a bad experience. Seemscarponglike there’s a lot of people listening and most company sites have feedback areas where you can share your frustration directly, or you can just take to the internet and rant your heart out on your blog, on Twitter, or various other places suitable for your explosion. There’s varying degrees of success when it comes to the online rant, and very rarely do you get the opportunity to directly confront those that made you upset to begin with.

Carpong is your opportunity to deal with the bad drivers in your life. It’s an opportunity for you to confront the person behind your seething rage from the close call on the highway to the failure to stop accident that was just barely avoided on the city streets. Using the license plate number, should you be so lucky to get it, is what you use to identify the perpetrator and then blast them online with your side of the story.

In theory this sounds great, but in actuality, the person with the license plate would need to know a few things. First they’d need to know the site existed, secondly they’d need to have their license plate handy to look it up. As much as I love this idea I don’t see anyone taking the time to do either, aside from the initial curiosity of whether someone’s commented on your car.

It’s a novel idea that I see poor execution for. There’s needs to be something to benefit users for taking the time to look up the critiques, if any, on their driving.

Thanks for the write-up. It’s a little misinformed, though. The site is not only for sending messages to bad drivers. IT is for all types of communication between drivers.

Although many of the comments complain about bad driving, some are actually very helpful. There are comments letting people know that their headlights/tail lights/brake lights are out, that their tires are flat or bald. People can also use the site to report cars that have been towed, windows left open, headlights left on, etc.

If you look at it as an all-purpose communication site, you can start to see some more of an incentive/value for people to sign up and follow their license plates. That way they will receive an email for any of the above reasons.
