Swype: A New Touch Screen Typing Method

swype When text messaging first got really big around fifteen years ago, people thought it was the definitive way of sending a quick message across the globe. Then the T9 predictive text dictionary came out and it suddenly became ten times better.

Now, from the creators of the T9 prediction dictionary, we have Swype. A new way of inputting text on a touch screen phone. It works by rapidly swiping your finger around on the screen and stopping on relevant letters. This removes the need for tapping and as such reduces the amount of time it takes to write a message or e-mail. The first phone which will have this will be the Samsung Omnia II, which is due for release shortly.

Here is a leaked video which was obtained by TechCrunch. It’s a race between Swype and traditional tapping method – the results are definitive.
